Hezonja is no longer a sleeper. Dude is playing really well.

Seems to me that 3/5 of our starting lineup is the current problem, fix that and the bench will be fine with Amino, Turner, Davis, Collins, Napier, and Pat on it.How does swapping CJ for Griffin take us to another level? Our role players are the problem, and in this scenario, we don't change any of them...
Does Melo still have a no-trade clause?

Maybe we can throw our MLE at him this summer. Depends on if we can get below the tax this year so we have more to offer. The problem isn't whether or not he is a sleeper. It's that Orlando makes the dumbest decisions. By not picking up the 4th year on his rookie deal it means his bird rights don't transfer. We'd have no chance to keep him after this year.
I agree, we would win this trade period if we could pawn off Hark and Myers as the 3rd team in seperate deals to make contracts work for other teams while taking back expirings. At this point, I think they are probably just to move Harkless. But I would like to be pleasantly surprised!

I would love that. He could become really solid player, like Tobias Harris, we saw him outside of that horrible franchise.Maybe we can throw our MLE at him this summer. Depends on if we can get below the tax this year so we have more to offer.

Evan Turner
Ed Davis
And our 1st round pick
For
Otto Porter
I’m guessing Shabazz has to get in there too somehow
I'd say 2/5ths of the starting line-up is the problem (Turner/Aminu). Then subtract Turner from the bench, and yes, the bench is "fine". But ultimately, the bench still needs a legit 6th man.Seems to me that 3/5 of our starting lineup is the current problem, fix that and the bench will be fine with Amino, Turner, Davis, Collins, Napier, and Pat on it.
What would we win? If you mean like how we "won" the Crabbe trade with BKN, then yeah, I guess. That's a pretty depressing use of the word "win" though.I agree, we would win this trade period if we could pawn off Hark and Myers as the 3rd team in seperate deals to make contracts work for other teams while taking back expirings.
Who is the fringe all-star?That has nothing to do with is Love + Nets pick enough for CJ.
It has everything to do with this.
They don't want to part with the pick, due to LBJ leaving.
Fringe allstar + a lotto pick is not enough for CJ. He has more value than that.
Who is the fringe all-star?
Love IS an all-star & has been several times. That is not a "fringe" all-star.
What is asinine about that argument is CJ has never even come close to sniffing an all-star selection. So how in the hell does a 'common' player like CJ have more value than an all-star + loto pick?

Ha

The "all-star" criterion is so utterly stupid. Jamal Magloire, coming out of retirement, would still be an all-star while CJ is not. Pretty sure 101 out of 100 GMs would pick CJ over Magloire.Who is the fringe all-star?

But what does that "win" us? Ultimately it makes us a shallower team, and therefore worse. It's not even addition by subtraction (the way dropping Turner would be), because neither is in the rotation.Ha

It wins us a bit of salary cap flexibility for next season if we honestly can deal those 2 for expirings. That would be huge, especially since they offer nothing. That money could be used on players who help the rotation next year. But what does that "win" us? Ultimately it makes us a shallower team, and therefore worse. But it doesn't, really. Removing Harkless/Meyers salaries don't give us any (much) money to sign anyone. We have the MLE regardless of whether H/M are on the books or not. They might be the difference between the mini-MLE and the full MLE (not sure), but it's unlikely we'd sign anybody better than Mo with either. The cap flexibility is not "huge" - at best, it's minuscule. Financially the only thing it would really do is get us under the lux tax line, but not below the cap.It wins us a bit of salary cap flexibility for next season if we honestly can deal those 2 for expirings.
