Scrubb at #16

I keep going back and forth on how I would take that, if it happened. On one hand I’ve never seen the guy play outside of highlight tapes, so what do I know, but on the other hand none of the people that have have him ranked anywhere near that range. It’d be wild but I’m not sure I would hate it. He *seems* like a pretty exciting player.

6’6” 220 lbs. 6’10” wingspan with a legit outside shot.

He’s also an elite level athlete. He’s an interesting project for sure.

Here's a full game of Scrubb for those interested...

yeah he can play. Seems everything is to his left so he’ll have to work on that but the athleticism is top level and he’s comfortable with the ball. He’s got a little Tatum in him.

Not a first round talent. Taking him at 16 would be stupid.
Yeah, if you're so high on the guy you keep your ear to the ground find out where he's going to land and trade up from 46 to get him or you trade back from 16 to the early second for a first rounder in next year's draft that is supposed to be stacked but you definitely don't take Scrubbs at 16.

RJ Hampton reminds me a lot of Dante Exum in the highlights. 6'5" Guard with a nice handle, athleticism, OK defense and jumper that is a work in progress. If there isn't a player like Bey on the board, it wouldn't be a bad pick. You can never have enough players with the skills to get into the lane and collapse a defense.

We could probably get the real thing for cheap in free agency, which is not a good sign.

True, but that is also twice blown out knee Exum. He also is the cautionary tale of "dude had good shot mechanics" and the efficient shooting come around. That never really happened for Exum.

Watch out during free agency, all contenders will be making moves while Neil pussy Olshey will make a minor move

I bet if Neil just wants to stand pat and see what "his team" can do when healthy, that we will draft prospects at 16 and 46 that can languish on the bench with Ant, Nas and a min contract re-signed Wenyen, try to get Melo on the BAE and use the MLE to pick up MCW to be a backup PG and Nerlens Noel to be a backup big. Ultimately I don't think Melo or Rio will stay so our rotation will most likely be Dame, CJ, Ariza, Zach, Nurk, Gary, Hoodie, MCW and Noel with all of our young players getting spot minutes until someone gets hurt. I sincerely hope Neil really shakes things up but I highly doubt it. That team would compete for the 4-7 seed in the West and possibly make it to the second round but that's it.

Olshey has created a payroll situation where he can't make significant moves even if he wanted to.
Hold on there. If you look at ALL the contending teams, they are ALL in the same situation CAP wise. Just because Neil doesn't want to trade this teams best talent for a cheese sandwich, and fries to be named later, doesn't mean he's gun shy. This year is a strange year. There are pieces ripe for the taking. Got the feeling something IS in the works. It's been too quiet. And that's a good thing when it comes to moves.

I highly doubt Portland will be making trades this offseason, not because they don’t want to, but because they don’t really have any big contracts to trade for a star caliber player short of putting CJ on the block, which just isn’t realistic with Olshey. There’s also the little fact that this iteration of the roster hasn’t even played a game together yet. They’ll probably get until at least the trade deadline before any significant decisions are made.

This would be a red flag for me. Idk what it is about Edwards, I just don’t trust him

I'm sure Olshey will use the "we need time to evaluate" excuse. It is, of course, bull puckey. Unless he is fool enough to believe having Hood and Ariza would have changed the outcome of the Laker series, he already knows all he needs.

Scrubb:

6’6” with a 6’9.5” wingspan and a crazy 8’8.5” reach for his height.

Legit SF size

LOL. Keep telling yourself that. :biglaugh: The next big move is just on the horizon...

I agree that the contending teams are all in the same situation CAP wise. The issue is talent wise, Portland is nowhere near a 'contending team'. We've had multiple reports that in all the trade discussions in the past, that Olshey has placed CJ in the 'untouchable' category. This just feels like a serious mis-assessment of where the team is.

https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-anthro/

A lot of players measuring out smaller than expected.

Tillman was about where I thought he'd be. Little short on the reach but massive hands.

Cassius Winston's reach and wingspan much better than I thought.
Wow, that list was extremely underwhelming Precious Achiuwa, Udoka Azubuike, Tyler Bey, Devon Dotson, Josh Green, Elijah Hughes, Isaiah Joe, Theo Maledon, Zeke Nnaji, Immanuel Quickley, Paul Reed Jr., Grant Riller, Jalen Smith, Isaiah Stewart, Tyrell Terry and Robert Woodard II are the only guys that are on any mock draft's first round that got measured. So many of these guys get second round grades from the most reputable sources and really only Precious Achiuwa and Jalen Smith are even sniffing the lottery maybe Theo Maledon was at one time but that was way earlier in the process. So the vast majority of players that the experts see as first round talent forwent the measurements.

Scrubb also had one of the lowest body fat percentages at 3.7%.
