John's Fetterman absolutely nailed it when he called the Gaetz nomination, "God tier trolling" in order to provoke a meltdown. That was one of my first thoughts and proved just how unserious Trump is about actually governing. This administration is going to be "God tier" grifting.......

That's my senator. About as unpretentious as they come. No guile.

I said the other day that if a Ukrainian assassin came into the country because of what was happening in their homeland, they'd probably go after Biden and Harris because Trump's never accountable.

Well ....

"Please save our people from the protest votes we cast against your VP, or else it's ALL YOUR FAULT!"

I was going to post the Help Me Obi Wan Kenobi gif but then I wondered who is older, Biden or Obi Wan.

Obi Wan was 57 years old when he died. 57?!? Fuck, being a Jedi really ages you.

Hard to go below Gaetz but Kennedy is worst nominee because damage will be much harder to remedy whenever we get a sane administration. He plans to fire all scientists working at health agencies. Who will replace them? People with no scientific training? Lobbyists?
By the time we get someone same in office they will all have new jobs. And you can't bring back the people who die from preventable diseases.

Yesterday I learned that my employers are going to open a sub-assembly facility in the US to avoid upcoming tariffs. Any product to be sold in the US will have parts manufactured in Mexico, ship them to the US, and then assemble them here.

I wonder how many other tech companies are planning something similar.

I've been thinking that, given loopholes and exceptions the biggest companies will undoubtedly get, the real effect of the tariffs will be to kill small business and consolidate power further to the large companies. I get this is probably obvious, but it just hit me.

They need to open an alpha-assembly facility. A submissive-assembly facility would obviously be liberal.

New Senate majority leader is former railroad lobbyist. He fought to overturn Obama era regulation requiring stronger brakes on rail trains carrying hazardous materials.

His big project is cutting social security. He has threatened to block budget negotiations unless major cuts to social security are included, along with huge tax cuts for the rich.

Imagine being forced to put money away for SS later in life and then those very same people taking that money decide to just cut you off of it.

It's fucking cruel, but that's essentially what they are wanting to do.

And that money goes nowhere but their own pockets.

And 75 million people let them do that.

Heck, I didn't even know there was a threshold for paying OT to salaries workers. I just assumed salary = no OT regardless

I had the same reaction. That was the definition of salary when I worked. As a 25-year-old full-charge bookkeeper, I worked 6 days per week, 55 hours per week for my $650/month salary. No one told me to come in Saturdays and many Sundays, I just did.

Trump wants to greatly decrease the number of Federal government employees, which is a little over 2 million.

He constantly speaks of eliminating the Dept. of Education. I just learned the number. DOE has 4000 employees. Divide. That's 1/5 of 1% of Federal employees. A drop in the bucket.

Feel free to start cheating on your taxes right now. IRS has 4% of Federal employees and will be hit massively. For decades, the party of the rich have decreased auditors.

The Dept. of Veterans Affairs has almost 25% of Federal employees, because Republicans have built it up over the years while cutting all other programs. So it's the biggest thing left. Expect big cuts for veterans. Republicans have nowhere else to destroy, so they'll be cornered here.

I'm starting to like this Cenk fella! "Alan, you deserve a tall glass of 'shut up juice'."

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

100% right where I am.

I haven't found myself agreeing with Cenk much in recent years, but I thought he had the stronger arguments and better presentations here. Destiny seemed to be all flustered and just came off as a guy supporting an approach that's been a pretty consistent loser.

It's interesting, too, that the Democratic establishment made Cenk look like he was turning right when he and Musk tweeted at each other, but here Cenk presents it as basically taking a shot at MAGA in doing it, and then he got a chance to make a point at the Democrats' problems when Musk actually engaged him.

I'll say this, too, Cenk's hitting on something that resonates with me because I had Clinton supporters in 2016 that told me I needed to get behind her when Bernie stopped his run and I said they needed to incorporate some of Bernie's more popular ideas into her campaign. I was in no uncertain terms told to shut up and back her, so I voted for Sanders. If you want to say it was people like me that allowed Trump to win that election, fine, but I think that ignores the fact that we didn't know how bad Trump would be at the time and Clinton's campaign was pompous to think it earned my vote by not giving me anything I wanted and saying I have to vote for her. She was completely tone deaf.

Republicans: He may be a liar, a rapist, a felon, a grifter, a traitor, and an imbecile, but at least he's not a DEMOCRAT! Two thumbs up!
Democrats: Well, this Democrat isn't addressing MY issues. Guess I'll sit this one out, and maybe that will teach the party a lesson!
