Those watching closely would say James Jones has NEVER looked like a genius.

He looked good till he traded for Durant.

Living in Phoenix, I pay close attention to the Suns. James Jones is not a good GM....

he did trade for Bridges. But then traded him and Johnson (and a bazillion picks) for Durant

And if you remember the Suns record in 2017-18 was 21-16. They tanked to get the #1 pick.
Here is another note. The Suns tanked in 2016-17 also and ended up with the #4 pick and drafted Josh Jackson who I honestly can't even really recall playing anything considered substantial as a player in the 5 years he was in the league.

Another pretty descriptive picture that nothing is guaranteed through the draft.
