I think Anderson in theory would fit better with the idea of spreading the floor so Dame and CJ can operate easier, but besides that...

Here's a juicy little tidbit for the Neil haters:

Of the GM's that signed those six players (Timofey Mozgov, Joakim Noah, Ian Mahinmi, Meyers Leonard, Bismack Biyombo and Miles Plumlee), only Neil Olshey and Ernie Grunfield are still employed by the same team they were two years ago.

On the bright side, all but Joakim Noah, Meyers Leonard and Ian Mahinmi have been traded. So, there is still hope. Since signing their current contracts in 2016, Mozgov has been traded three time and Plumlee twice.

Those 2016 contracts should be deemed void and players should be required to return this money and give it to somebody who actually deserves it.

Not really. Davis plays strictly near the basket. Anderson plays on the perimeter.

Layman looked good in summer league which he keeps getting sent too... However he has accomplished in the NBA what amounts to basically nothing. Not that Okafor is great, but Layman has pretty much sucked.

Lots of streaks on the line. The Blazers have beaten the Lakers 15 times in a row (with an average margin of victory of 11.9 points). The last Laker win over the Blazers was in March of 2014.

LeBron hasn't won in Portland since March of 2012 - his second season in MIA. That's a personal 5-game losing streak for LeBron in Portland with an average margin of defeat of 14.8 points.

The theory is that DeRozan and Aldridge are both mid-range two point shooters. Analytics suggest that this is a horrible strategy as you want to get 3 point shots or get to the rim for prime efficiency. Spurs were a bad three point shooting team last year and DeRozan makes them even worse in that department. There is also some worry about spacing as it's harder to space the court for mid range shots as it is having guys outside the arc. DeRozan is also a below average defender (rates close to CJ).

Personally I think that the Spurs are being slept on a bit and that Pop will make it work. There is too much talent there.
