OFFICIAL Around The NBA Thread...... August

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

I agree with much of what you say.

Things always get a little crazy during the off season. We're all bored, want the season to start, so all we have left is to snipe at each other.

That's why I'm asking you all to step your game up and snipe at me, I'm too quick and nimble for all of you but I like the challenge.

Me too. Snipe hunt is ON!

R.I.P. to you Charles Barkley Lukrofka.

We got this dog the month I started traveling with the team because we lived in a pretty rough neighborhood back then and I wanted somebody to be there for my wife and young son. He served us well and will be missed. Had to put him down today. Never had a dog growing up, never knew how close you could get to one. Feel like we lost a family member. 14 great years with this one.
It IS the Dog Days of Summer, so I thought it was OK to post here.

I think people should talk about basketball and stop with the insults myself....read my posts and replies with HC...if you read the last couple pages Sly...it's a clear picture of the new S2 culture....OT has enough sparring....the basketball section should be free of personal shit....just read the conversation and pm members concerned or delete my posts...whatever...place is supposed to be fun. I wish I'd gotten the joke....
You literally just posted this (unprovoked) in another thread...
Schilly is well informed....I'd put him on the list. I prefer the knowledgeable forum members who don't inject their own egos into their perspectives myself
Without this, I probably wouldnt have to say a word, but it bugged me because thjs is the type of thing you say you hate and constantly talk about!

That's an indirect shot at someone. You're literally talking shit about others. But then you come back with this morale highground stuff immediately after you ranted over something small...

I responded to that with something along the lines of "Why does it have to turn into a big back and forth? Why take it so hard?" to which you made up a (BS) claim of me "writing a small short story every day" as if I constantly rant at people (talking some more shit) without being able to back it up with a single example. And all I did was say "Why take it so seriously?", something that you've said to me over similar stuff, and something that Ive actually listed to.

But nah, then you blame the "forum culture" and other people, and act like this is all happening because you didn't understand a joke, as if what you say didn't contribute to it.

That's all I have to say, not going to get into a big back and forth. Either you listen to what I have to say, or you dont. Your choice. If you do listen, maybe you'll be able to realize how, at times, you do some of the things that you hate when others do. I just wanted to get my point across about what annoys me, and we can leave it at that.

R.I.P. Mr Barkley!

It sounds like you were a really sweet dog because you obviously let HCP eat most of your food.

This isn’t aimed at anyone in particular. When I went to O-live last year, I was looking for a place to talk the Blazers and basketball, I migrated here later than most of the O-live people but I still come here mostly to talk about basketball.
We all have our own personal views on the Blazers, what they should and shouldn’t do, some of us like members of the organization some of us don’t. We have different perspectives and at least to me that’s in essence what mAkes coming here “fun”. The trick is a) acknowledging we aren’t always right. B) other people with different views are still fans, and c) respecting the others opinions in regards to the team.
It seems like there are a few people who are tired of the critiques of the team and having that shoved down their throats. Then there are the people like me (unfortunately) who are the ones being critical of it. I struggle internally with how much is “enough” I mean I come here to talk basketball, and talk the Blazers and I feel like part of that means I can voice my criticisms, and as long as I’m not telling others their opinions are invalid that’s ok. However, I awknowledge it would probably be frustrating to me too if I was on the other “side”.

Anyways this is awfully long winded but it’s all to say I think the forum rule I like the most is attack the post not the poster, the only amendment I’d make to that remember when you’re attacking the post that post is still tied to someone and respecting their opinion goes a long ways.

That sucks man. I never realized how tough losing a pet is until I lost my cat of 13 years in April. I imagine it'd be even tougher losing a dog. This forum helped me a lot through that.

I hope things look brighter soon for you and your family, as the grieving process turns into fond memories.

I wouldn't say I dislike him. I understand what he brings, it's just that his stupid mistakes and out of control play drives me crazier than most.

His play at times drives me crazy as well.
But honestly I think when he plays within himself, he's a top tier role player who dare I say elevates Portland when he's playing well.(not talking about his hit or miss shooting)

I think you all should get over it and let things go.

Or better yet, let's talk about what an a-hole I am. Now that is something we can all agree on and joke about.

It's honestly my fault.
People who I've placed on ignore I generally after awhile of not seeing their posts, unignore said poster. Simply because at the end of the day we're all Blazer fans.
It's generally worked, I mean I had @BonesJones on ignore for awhile... two off seasons ago?
Even put @dviss1 on ignore for awhile.

But sadly there are some people who just don't deserve a second chance even in a casual forum setting.
The poster who I attempted to joke(which was obvious to everyone BUT HIM) and find common ground with is someone whos shown he doesn't deserve a second chance multiple times.
He makes everything personal, and it's just not worth my time.
I'm sure he's a good guy in person. But much like a couple other meme accounts. It's sadly just not worth the effort to dialogue with them.
Which is unfortunate.

Oh and Sly, I don't think you're an asshole. I think you're old.

we once had Rolo Kaman and Meyer....we were in the mix in the west....we now have Nurk, Collins and Meyers....it ain't changing...if we get another player it'll be a SF

Meyers was playing PF then.

I think you all should get over it and let things go.

Or better yet, let's talk about what an a-hole I am. Now that is something we can all agree on and joke about.

THAT MOTHERFUCKER SLY!!!!!!

Is a really good dude who has a tough job regulating the soccer mom forum denizens, who constantly bicker. He puts Blazer events together and blesses us with blazer swag.
I got to shoot on the blazer floor because John got me the ticket. He deserves major props for all that he does. Let's try to make his job easier...

RIP. I am sorry man - the worst part of having dogs is having to say goodbye. We had to put down our pup of 15 years a couple of months ago. That is hard. But, I am sure you gave him a great home for most of his years and he returned the love - which is really all one hopes for.
