I'll never buy kicks that have cloth loops for the laces...that shit doesn't hold up for long

When's the last time you bought a pair? Modern shoe materials have improved leaps and bounds. You'll wear through the outsole long before you wear out something like the lacing tabs.

two months ago....at my age, I've owned a lot of them over the years...I'm not a fan of the tabs and in my view...tennis shoes lasted longer years ago than they do today....especially the soles. I like adidas shoes for durability and arch support ..my new favorites are new balance..well made shoes

And you broke a lacing tab in that time?

The outsole is the only part of today's shoes that doesn't hold up significantly better than older stuff, assuming you aren't buying crap. And even that's because they're stressing lightweight so much. A rugged outsole with today's materials is every bit as long-lasting as the "back when I was a kid" fond memories. I've worked with product development for three decades and have seen the steady progress.

Wouldn't buy another pair with lacing tabs...I have had plenty of those...fool me once. Hey...you like them that's great...I don't...I also gave up on Nike shoes as they just didn't stand up over time....I've had a lot of them. I tried on every brand I could find with my last purchase...happy with my choice..as far as back when I was a kid there were only Converse All Stars really...Nike didn't make shoes back then

Zion
6’7” 287 lbs
Projected #5 pick in next years draft
Can dunk from the FT line

I don't buy the hype. Let's see him actually play at the college level. Can he shoot? Can he defend? Can he handle? Can he do anything more than dunk? Great that he's big and athletic, but he needs more than that to be worthy of a top-5 pick.

As I suspected, you're talking about failures of old stuff, not new stuff.

It's ok. ESPN doesn't even have us making the playoffs as is.

ESPN Forecast Predicts Blazers Miss Playoffs

ESPN’s Forecast Panel predicts that the Blazers will finish the 2018-19 season in 10th place in the Western Conference.
Dog days of summer, even the haters have gone! Probably deserves it's own thread.

It's similar to their predictions last year, which were completely wrong.

R.I.P. to you Charles Barkley Lukrofka.

We got this dog the month I started traveling with the team because we lived in a pretty rough neighborhood back then and I wanted somebody to be there for my wife and young son. He served us well and will be missed. Had to put him down today. Never had a dog growing up, never knew how close you could get to one. Feel like we lost a family member. 14 great years with this one.
It IS the Dog Days of Summer, so I thought it was OK to post here.

R.I.P FAMS.......

My Simon just died recently too. Hurts like Hell. They are family.

naw...you're just not listening...if you're involved in shoe engineering it's good to listen...I got a pair of Nike's brand new for Xmas last year...they didn''t last one full year....soles wore out...sides busted out....in my view my 50 dollar New Balance replacements are a much better made shoe...for half the price...if you are a Nike fan, I would assume you've had good experiences with them...I haven't since my original Air Jordans….probably had half a dozen pair since then..my 2017 Nike's sucked.....maybe to you that's old stuff...to me it's a substandard product for a big pricetag

I'm listening. You're the one not being consistent. I already said the soles are the first thing to wear out on most modern shoes. The sides splitting is generally a sign of a bad fit (too much outward pressure) or a very papery material like used on a lot of lightweight Saucony and Hoka models. You're dodging the point that started the conversation: the lacing tabs are not likely to fail.

It is always sad to lose a loved one whether human or animal.

With that said, Jason on The fan yesterday afternoon brought up a great point. It should only be a celebration if you live longer than 80. You won at the game of life and anything beyond is icing on the cake. We shouldn't mourn, we should celebrate all the years they had on this earth.

With that said, I had a stepsister die in a car crash in my teens and I have put a couple of pets to sleep due to old age. They stung just as bad as the stepsister even though they lived out their years. Easier said than done I know, but I believe it to be true.

My girlfriend's pug Ming died last Wednesday. He will be missed. I have never seen an animal with such a big personality. He loved people, tolerated other dogs and thought squirrels were losers and not worth his time or attention.

Remember that Block from collins ?

The young man's defense is going to be elite. We just need him to develop into a reliable 4th option on the other end.

We don't need him to average 20 ppg, just an efficient 14 ppg, or so, on 3FG% => .380.

That's the kind of 2-way performance we need from both forward spots (do you hear me Moe Harless, I'm talking to you).

Collins is never going to average 14 points a game. You heard it here first. Never ever ever.

Disclaimer: that's just a guess based on the laws of basketball reality.
