Yep, defense is a lot of just simple effort, and schemes. Yeah, having longer arms or being taller helps (same with being fast), but it's not as hard to play passable defense.
Even with poor defensive structure, we could have been a better defensive team if a few players just tried harder on that end of the floor.
Shots may not fall, but defense and rebounding is 90% effort, and will keep you in games

I'm willing to bet that the Blazers end up the "wooden spoon" team - the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that lost in the finals. It's us or Dallas.

How did we lose against Denver when they’re not healthy? Look at how Phoenix play on both ends
Phoenix plays well together and there team is built with a lot balanced. The thing I see about them majority of them can handle the ball well and all can pass well. So when they break you down on a drive they got the defense thinking. Plus they got guys hitting the 3. Defensely Alton is taking up space on Jokic plus he moves his feet so Jokic having problems just driving by him like he did our bigs and plus they there not passive on D like we are.

Jones chose Ayton over Doncic. I know they’re up 2-0 in the second round but that pick won’t age well. He could’ve looked elsewhere for a big man and taken the guy with Top 10 all time potential. We shouldn’t be praising Jones here. At least not yet.
I disagree I think it was the right pick Ayton fits the a piece for phoenix don't need the ball plays his role and if they went for Doncic a person that needs the ball in his hands and then you got booker also need the ball. Sometimes it's not who best what actually fits for the team and phoenix is built very well it might took 3-4 years get all the pieces but they got there.

Malone better watch out man, no one will want to be the GM of the Nuggets because the coach just threw the players under the bus like that.
Well he was right but maybe tell his players that not tell the world.

It worked against Portland. These men are adults, if they can't handle being called out for their shitactular play, they're in the wrong sport.

I don’t see that as throwing his team under the bus. He’s trying to light a fire in them. If he was singling out and mentioning players that would be one thing.

Takes one to know one right ? Officiating dictates big men. Joker has shot 6 FTs in the second round. He averaged that per game against the Blazers.

all it would take is a 10FT game next for those FT numbers to come close to balancing. And he shot 6 last night; just had the aberration of 0 FT's in game 1

besides that, rather than there being a conspiracy to screw Nurkic by the officials. I'm inclined to think that Ayton, the Suns, and the Suns coaching staff have a lot better grasp of how to defend than the Blazer counterparts. They were top-10 in defense after all

It did look like the refs let some Phoenix guys push and lean on Jokic a lot without calling fouls.

It's as if the league wants a certain team to win because it presents a bigger story...

It might against the Blazers but the old saying if you go to well to many times it might turn up blowing in your face.

Im surprised that TGF hangs around the three point line so much when he is a beast in the post?

The Bucks has Tucker, the Suns has Crowder. Where’s the Blazers bad boy, the hitman? Blazers are a bunch of choir boys man.

One could argue their "bad boy" was Zach, but he has the bone structure of a choir boy.

Does Giannis seem like kind of a ball hog? And why is he taking so many threes when he isn't making them?

I had picked the Bucks to win the east. Not looking likely. Guess I am a better baker than prophet.
