For those that have been on Trent and his shooting:
Brady Hawk: Tyler Herro on the shooting struggles, “Shooters shoot, and we just have to continue to shoot..It’s a long season, and it’s a grind.”

Pretty standard position for any shooter, including ours.

Trent has attempted over 600 three's in his career and has 40% on them. I think 600 shots is an adequate enough sample size to have a decent idea on his shooting ability from deep. 40% is a pretty good rate of conversion. Obviously, there will be 5 and 10 game chunks of fairly significant variance, but that's true for all shooters, even Curry

I think at this point we can expect Trent to be in the range of 38-42% on three's. And yeah, that range I just pulled out of the air, but it seems realistic. Trent is a good shooter. What he isn't yet is a good defender, positional rebounder, or ball-handler. I'd say best case is being a moderate usage, higher efficiency shooter with decent defense. But right now, he's kind of one-dimensional

unfortunately, NBA & Blazer history suggests he may very well be overpaid on his 2nd contract, and another bloated contract is not what Portland needs

I said this on another thread but I think the situation with Gary's shot right now is really obvious. I think he's hearing about trade rumors. I don't think this slump hurts his trade value because GMs understand this is what happens around the deadline with a young player rumored to be on the block and if he doesn't get traded I bet he'll go right back to being a sniper. So we just need to get great value for him or possibly have to deal with two more games of less than excellent shooting.

If it was a serious tear of ligaments, maybe. If it was just a sprain/mild tear, he'll back in plenty of time for the playoffs.

I guess I'm superstitious because I don't even want to consider the impact of injuries to other teams for fear of the boomerang effect on Portland

He checked out of the game, changed shoes, came back in the game, hit a corner three and then checked back out and walked to the locker room. If they let him go back in, he was able to hit a three, and walk off... it doesn't seem like it could be too serious.

Just looking at team schedules and I noticed if you look at Portland vs West Play off teams the Blazers have the advantage of 2 of the 3 games in Portland against Den, SA and Dallas, the rest, Utah, Lakers, Clips, Suns we play the 2 of 3 on the road. You look at the Lakers and they 2 of 3 on the road against only the Mav's and Spurs, the rest of the top west teams the Lakers get the home court advantage against. Just lucky or conspiracy time?

Kobe shot FTs after tearing his Achilles. Some guys are just different. MRI still pending for ligament damage, X-Rays are negative so no broken bones.

The Blazers are bad:
29th in DRtg

The Blazers are good:
6th in the West vs. top .500+, and we've been injured

The Blazers are bad:
11th in the West in +/-

The Blazers are good:
Tied for 5th in the West by record, and we've been injured.

Are we good? Are we bad? It's Portland, we're complicated (or maybe just keeping it weird).

LeBron is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. Can the Lakers even hold on to a playoff spot with LeBron and AD out for an extended period of time?

Also, with LeBron and Embiid missing a lot of time, it looks like Dame and Jokic are the top 2 MVP candidates now. If POR can make a run and get a top 3 seed, Dame will have a legitimate chance at MVP.

Well we should clearly pass them, possibly within the week.
Lakers have the 6th toughest strength of schedule remaining. I don’t think they would be favored in any game without LeBron and AD.

The Blazers would seriously be a top 3 team in the league if they played top 10 defense instead of "playing defense".

Man... You would think LeBron was the only player in the league this year to sprain an ankle?

He's LeBron James... many argue that he's the best to ever do it and look at his numbers. I think (if the MRI doesn't show any structural damage) that LeBron and AD will both return in a month. As long as they are in the top 10 in the West, I think that team wins the chip. Honestly, I don't think any team in the league can beat them in a seven game.

It's a sprained ankle though. He will rest a few games and come back as LeBron.
I did find it interesting that Earl Watson on the NBATV crew talked about the Lakers picking up Aldridge to cover for a bit. That would be sooo LaMarcus Aldridge.

It’s a high ankle sprain. Those can be tricky and take longer to heal. Woj is saying he could be out an extended period of time.

Right the MRI will tell them more but the average time to get back in game for a high ankle sprain with no structural damage is six weeks... some people do it in as little as three and others it takes up to nine.

Not saying you are wrong at all. But i highly doubt LeBron James is out 6-9 weeks? Now my Blazer Homer mind set want's him out 6-9 weeks but realistic thinking says he got back up and played so he can keep his streak alive then he walked off under his own power throwing chairs along the way. He's out 2 weeks at the most.
Davis is on week 3 of an expected 4 week injury recovery time. These two get back in two weeks and keep rolling is my prediction on this.

This looks like litmus paper answer for "easy schedule for not too good team".

I believe they can easily hold on to a playoff spot. They’re 14 games above .500. Shouldn’t be that difficult.

But. Playoff positioning should be interesting. Don’t want the Lakers in the first again tho lol

I think all 3 of the top teams, Utah, and the LA pair, would be a major challenge for Portland, if everybody is healthy on both teams.

but Portland does have RoCo and Jones this year (at least for now), and that's different than last year. That would give the Blazers some Lebron options, but AD will be a problem. And against the Clips, RoCo and Jones at least give Portland a puncher's chance against Kawhi and PG13

the team I don't want Portland to face is Utah. I just think they are a bad matchup for the Blazers

Nuggets lose. We’re 5th. Fun moment in last couple minutes. Ingram misses FT but they call lane violation. Ingram shoots over and misses again but they call lane violation again! So Ingram shoots it a 3rd time and makes it.

Rockets have now lost 20 in a row. They are starting to hunt history. If you’re wondering, Wood, Wall, and Oladipo are all healthy and playing these last few games.

I saw Wall and Oladipo weren't playing earlier this past week
