1. Why would we waive Moe?
2. I don't think we CAN trade for Moe, at least for a while.
3. Harrell would not make us a contender
That was my first question....I think they said we'd need a pick, Trent and Whiteside or a big to do it. I have no idea how or why it would ever happen, just thought it was interesting that they thought we could pick him up and plug a hole in our roster...again ...their opinion....so much talk about Blake or KLove….first I've heard of Harrell attached to a trade rumor with us..Article also said it was the Clippers outreach...not us trying to initiate the deal.

I'm surprised people are surprised by Siakam's contract. He's the face of the franchise going forward, and the franchise has probably seen enough of him this summer to be confident he's not about to take a major step backward. All he has to do is maintain last year's level and he's worth the extension, having a whole country rooting for him.

Let me be clear when I say this. It isn't necessarily about the amount of the contract itself, it's the timing of paying these guys these amounts that is the issue for me unless you are getting a bargain deal or you are certain they are a max player. To me it's much more worthwhile to just let them become restricted free agents.

Take Toronto for example, I get the value of rewarding Siakam for his part in the championship. His cap hold next summer was only around $7 million but now he counts for almost $30 million against their cap and it puts them at about $80 million in contracts with only 4 players (Siakam, Lowry, Powell, and OG under contract). So instead of possibly having a max spot they will be fighting to fill their roster with a lot less money to do so.

With guys like Hield and Brown you only sign them to those particular contracts if you think they could possibly get a max contract next summer. If not you tied up cap space you didn't have to. Plus the risk of those guys getting a max offer is much smaller than the chance they could have a season not worthy of the contract they signed in which case you'd be wishing you waited to lock them up.

Really didn’t think Brown would get paid. Thought Boston would offer him $90million and wait until Summer if it is not accepted.

They had to overpay though, otherwise Atlanta would have offered him a max next Summer anyway.
Atlanta just drafted Reddish, Hunter, and Huerter over the last two years. I don't know if they'd be offering a max to another wing.

This could mean he's being traded....they're being careful
No trades can happen from now until December 15th. That's a long time to have a trade on 'hold'.

I could mean that Blake is TRYING to get traded and not pushing himself to be on the court with Detroit.

That's not true. Only guys that signed this summer can't be traded until then.

For example, Whiteside and Trent for Griffin could happen today if both teams wanted to. I think Griffin really is hurt though.

That's...not true. It's just recently-signed free agents that can't be traded until 12/15. We could trade Whiteside for Griffin today if both teams were down.

EDIT: Of course @hoopsjock beat my by mere seconds...

LMAO, could our posts be any more similar?

Edit: Whiteside straight up for Griffin is about $483,000 away from working.

Even with a healthy PG13, this Clipper's team has no depth.
