Official Damian Lillard All-Star pentathlon thread

Lamarcus in skills challenge would be a good laugh.

I'm actually sad I offered to work all star weekend now when I had originally scheduled it off.

One thing for sure, Lillards agent is doing a great job with his career so far. Most ink I've seen in the media for a Blazer maybe ever! This was a career, swagger move for Dame and I hope it carries him to the finish line with some momentum.

Oden wins that hands down. That guy got so much ink, it was ridiculous.

Lillard getting some love for being in every event this weekend at #sportscenter.

He's 4th out of the 8 in the 3 point contest, which is a surprise to me. Curry has a lower 3pt %.

Lillard is in 3point contest

Just read it on ESPN. Curry, Love, Kyrie, Belinili and a few others are in it. No teammates though. Kinda wanted to see Wes in to take on splash bros. But real excited to see LILLARD weekend!

He probably won't get much playing time in the ASG, and the dunk/3pt/skill events are not that physically demanding.

That dunk contest is set up for George to win. Or, at the very least, the East... Shocking, isn't it?

So technically he isn't doing every event on Saturday since there is the Shooting Stars competition right?

If so that makes it possible (although no where near likely) that his record could be broken. It would have to be done by a rookie or 2nd year player in the future that was on a team that shared a NBA city with a WNBA team?

No, because Curry and Durant on the shooting skills thing are both way past 1 and 2 years, and the other 2 are retired HOF'ers (or darn near close)... So, I don't think so.

I not sure exactly what you are saying. I didn't say it could be broken this year just that it was possible in the future. Just because Curry and Durant aren't first or second year players doesn't mean the competitors in the future won't be.

As I said, very unlikely that it could ever be broken but I think technically (if you want to even bother getting technical) it is possible.

However, I don't think the NBA even cares about the Shooting Stars competition so they may not count it or it may even be gone in the future.

Oh yeah. Sorry, forgot to clarify. I said Curry and Durant because they are going to have budding stars (and most likely starters in the ASG) or just stars already.. and I think they have to have a pretty solid body of work (a few years) to get on that... so it's really the only two spots available, and I highly doubt - save a Lebron like wonder kid - that it will happen.

They can call it whatever they want, but they won't be getting rid of the rookie/sophomore game anytime soon.

I like this all money ball rack thing in the 3pt contest. Dame needs to put that shit 5 feet beyond the arc.

Hahahaha! "Dark Cuban" LOL! Shaq is a fool!

Amazing. And the best of luck to him. Ill be watching.

Stick think he, his mind and his body needs the rest more.

I hate to be the Blazer fan to say it, but Damon is getting a little over-exposed at this point. I mean, I enjoy seeing it as a fan, and I think he really is a very nice young player. I think he's got a bright future ahead of him, and after years of Portland getting passed over for All-Star game appearances, it's awesome to have two players in the actual game.

I just don't know that he's really quite worth all the media hype/all-star attention he's received. He's a second year player who does benefit a lot from playing next to Aldridge, he hasn't made the playoffs yet, and frankly I'm starting to lose confidence lately that he will lead us out of the first round---he just hasn't had a lot of dominant scoring nights recently.

Part of me wonders if we'll look back on the All-Star Dame-a-palooza a little cringe-y, kind of like the Oden victory parade....I just have this terrible sense of foreboding that Lillard will be terrible over the weekend, his perimeter shooting slump will malinger through the playoffs, and in time he'll be added to the depressingly long lists of Blazers Could-Have-Beens.

*shrug* Maybe I'm just not used to having nice things.
