Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I think he and Wesley should both do it and get a little friendly team competition going. I think it would give us publicity as well as better chemistry.

Or how about Dame and Wes vs Klay and Steph?

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

It's obvious that it's mental. He's doubting his shot right now and he needs something to snap him out of it. I think the three point contest could be just what the doctor ordered.
I hope so. It could go either way - he could either kill it, or completely embarrass himself. The way he's been shooting, the latter sounds more likely.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I think it could help as well, but regardless he should be in it. (as should Wes) I don't think his slump should have anything to do with it. For all we know he is on fire from 3 pt range in practice. And the contest is basically like practice. No one is guarding them. Both he and Wes are perfect for it as neither jump very high with their shot. They would get in an easy rhythm and do well IMO.

I don't see the harm in him doing it. I've seen plenty of really good three point shooters not do very well in the contest. I don't think he'll embarrass himself. Dame has a history of rising to the occasion. I think it's exactly the kind of thing that will get him some rhythm and hopefully get his shot back.

Whatever gets him back to shooting decently is good in my book!

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

Id love to see him in this contest. With him in everything it makes me really want to watch the events.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

I don't know why the NBA doesn't open up more of these contests to every team in the league. Tell every team to bring their two best three point shooters and run the prelims (two rounds each) in the morning, trimming off all but the top twenty (total makes in both rounds). Have the semis in the afternoon--another two rounds--making it top five or seven (again, total makes in two rounds). In the evening, run it the same way.

Do the same thing for that layup, mid-range, mid-court contest, but with all NBA players from every team. That trophy gets passed around and is a team award.

In other words, give fans a reason to root for their team and tune-in to All Star Weekend, even if they don't have a player in the game.

Good lord. That'd be nuts. With all the committments the all stars already have... have some of them shoot all day on their one time off for a week during the season. :MARIS61:

All-Star Game, Rising Stars, Skills, Dunk & 3 point RT @jwquick: Agent says Damian Lillard will compete in Three-point and Dunk contests.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

His agent confirms he will do both the dunk and three point contests!

Does anyone wonder if the reason why he's only "considering" the three point contest is because his shot is shaky as hell right now?

If Dame had been offered the spot two months ago, he'd have said yes in a heartbeat.

Gives him more opportunities to work on his game while spending less time with the other PR commitments?

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

Well shit... now I gotta find a place that will show all 5 events.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

So, is he not doing the skills challenge?

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

He's defending it.

Cool. I just saw in Quick's tweet that he was doing the three-point shootout and the dunk contest. He didn't mention the skills challenge, so I thought he may have passed on it.

Re: Lillard in dunk contest.

Paul George, John Wall, Terrence Ross and Damian Lillard are confirmed for this year's Slam Dunk Contest!!

Re: Lillard in dunk contest.

I don't get the idea of a pro athlete being "tired" by participating in All Star weekend.

Hold up everyone: Aaron Goodwin says he said Damian Lillard "would do" the three-point contest, not that he is in the competition

apparently its not official he is in the 3 point contest. Maybe he actually hasn't been invited yet, if thats the case it is fairly stupid of the NBA to leave off all the Blazers from the 3 point shooting contest.

I think he'll get the invite. I think the NBA would like to have that record broken as the first player to take part in every event.

I wish I could rep. Brilliant!

He's not in a large market. If he was, this would be getting front page and all the cameras following him to every event. Even if Lillard does it, it'll just get mentioned. But if it was someone like Melo, it would be getting stories all day. So I wouldn't be so sure.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

god clownzano sucks.

Re: Why is Dame "considering the three point contest?"

He might embarrass himself. He's not a good outside shooter anymore.
Or he might find his stroke and get back on track.
