I don't think it's possible or fair to be looking for a new head coach after a couple of weeks.

Kelly's been waiting to take over and the university has too much riding on him succeeding in the LONG run to worry overmuch about his first month, no matter how badly it might go.

Ed O.

Yeah, but Ed... this isn't a new coach taking over a rebuilding program. This is a guy taking over a perennial bowl team. Obviously there's a little slack, but not THAT much.

After that debacle with Blount all I can say is thank god I'm not a Ducks fan ... that was one of the biggest post-game meltdowns I've ever seen (or at least any that I can actually recall, considering that I'm usually pretty well lubricated with scotch when I watch football).

Well Mike Belotti will make his first decision as AD (I'm sure he's made other decisions, but this is a big decision) by either suspending and kicking Blount off the team.

...given Mikey B's track record for handling disciplinary actions, I would almost guarantee that Blount is starting by the time they kickoff PAC10 play :sigh:

My torts prof in law school was curious about how a punch thrown in a sporting event generally yields nothing but a slap on the wrist, while the same punch thrown on a street would be assault. He said sporting events seemed to have a zone around them where players could get away with a lot. That punch might've crossed the line -- from a legal perspective, it'll be interesting to see if the local cops/prosecutor do anything about that.

IMO, it's because sports (esp. football) are all about physicality and tackling/getting tackled for 60 minutes, things like punches should be expected sometimes...

That was great! I don't think a Ducks game could have gone any better in the eyes of a Beaver fan than the one did tonight.

...should strippers expect to be sexually assaulted then :dunno:

Does Idaho have a version of Measure 11? That's 60mos in jail if you punch someone like that in Oregon.

Brian Wheeler creates the official thread, and then doesn't post in it haha

hahahaha...way to go ducks. why the hell did they go with the stormtrooper look? didn't they know the stormtroopers always lose. and blount is a real class act. words are words but as soon as you throw a punch you've crossed a line. it's not like blount was a churchmouse all game, guarenteed those two had something running all game long. but then to go after your own teammate and some fans....wow, just wow.

Would've been better for you beaver fans if us ducks didn't score at all. Then it'd be better :sigh:

...and his coach and a stadium employee and who knows what else happened behind closed doors!!! Roid rage much??? Also, I never drew the stormtrooper comparison...but those jerseys just looked like white duck shit, as did their performance [the pretty silvery feathers looked cute though]. It was odd, but the U of 0/Nike invincibility aura seemed to vanish completely tonight...can it be found again??? :dunno:

I'd like to just say wow at those who feel this way. Just wow. I'm not a Beaver fan any more than you're a Duck fan, but I would never, ever wish an ending like this for the Beavs (or any other team). If Quizz Rodgers punched someone in the face Saturday, I wouldn't be laughing, cheering, and saying what a great night for Duck fans. I'd feel pretty saddened at the fact that a very young and talented player with a bright future made such a terrible series of decisions. That's pretty classless and weak, to say the least.

How did the Beavers do at BSU again?

And that dude deserved that snackdown from Blount...seriously...that was LOL funny...the look on his face after he got his clock cleaned....

and did anyone else see Peterson lacing into him as well?

I doubt you'd ever see one of the Rodgers brothers punch someone.

Either Boise State prepared one hell of a game plan defensively, Chip Kelly became a victim of body snatchers, or JM got stabbed with some type of Samoan kryptonite.

I wish he had been.

What do you think happened to him? Just rust from the layover from last season? What was the reason for calling so many drop backs when they obviously weren't working? In all seriousness as a Beaver fan I didn't understand what Oregon's offense was doing. I'm used to catching a Ducks game and seeing something much more cohesive.

Was Belotti adding anything to the offensive playcalling last season? Any input before games, etc?

Really?

I would think you'd want all PAC-10 teams to win so when you beat them it would help OSU more.

Ed O.

yea peterson was laying into him before he even got decked, so where was chip??? this is a test of what kind of coach...no wait, what kind of man chip kelly is. what is the punishment going to be for this bonehead? and save me the "he made a bad choice arguement." this guy has made alot of bad choices recently and he deserves everything coming his way.

LOL that is funny...

sorry but it is....

That kid popped off and got a howdy doo from Blount...and he deserved it....

taunting another player after you win? classy?

While there's no excuse for punching someone, the Boise St. player did antagonize him and brought him on himself a bit. Take a huge guy who had a horrible game (realize he was talking up the Ducks before the game...so losing makes him look extra bad), on tons of supplements (roids? creatine at least).

In any case, I won't condone it, but I totally understand how and why it happened. More than anything, it's a lack of discipline and certainly a display of his personality and short fuse.
