So, with that, while the punch should and will lead to a lengthy suspension, I have no sympathy for Hout, and seeing his eyes roll back into his head at the moment he is calling Blount a "bitch" is actually kind of funny

Not kind of funny...

VERY funny...Hout got one shotted...and he deserved it...

Blount should have just kept walking...but with emotions running high, 19-21yr old kids it is not a stretch to see how these things happen...they aren't emotionless robots....

That being said, what transpired after the punch was more troubling for me....

2-3 game suspension is my prediction.....

the rationalizations for the punch are hilarious. papa this has NOTHING to do with the streets, this has to do with a game. for whatever reason the lines between games and real life are blurred. how many NBA fights happen where there are punches thrown but no legal action is taken. hout was wrong in what he did but that is normal happenings on a football field. punching a guy in the face is not normal and there is no excuse for what blount did. it isn't the worst thing to ever happen but it sure as hell is funny (as was UO's performance).

There is no way that the Boise State kid spun Blount around, he tapped him as his shoulder and then a second later Blount turns himself around. You're acting like Blount got physically assaulted and responded in turn - the kid touched his shoulder and trashed talked to him. Considering UO has a history of big trash talking before, during, and after games I can't really take this complaining about other teams doing it to them seriously.

Blount made a dumb mistake after he got embarrassed (due to his pre-game trash talking and bad performance) by some trash talking - that's all there is to it. No one deserves a punch to the jaw for some trash talking, especially when the puncher started the trash talking in the first place. Blount should get his two game suspension, learn from this experience, and move on.

While I agree that he wasnt spun around, or assualted. I think it was more than just a tap to like get his attention, I think it was as hard as an insult like slap in the face, but done on his shoulder.

I actually think the Defense did pretty well considering they were on the field over 40 minutes.. The biggest thing to me was Allowalotti going into a prevent defense on 3rd down, and making it a basic automatic 1st down. But yes.. O-line was a question mark, and now it is officially a concern.

I agree. Your defense after the first quarter did a pretty respectable job considering the absolute egg the offense laid and the amount of time the Ducks D was on the field.

Your big concern right now, as you said, has to be the O-line. If they don't shape up you have big time defenses in the P10 like USC, OSU, even Cal that are going to swarm them and put Masoli on the ground a lot. That is no good at all.

You know that USC front seven has to be chompin' at the bits for the Halloween game if the o-line does not improve. I think it will with time, but that will be a big test.

Do you think Masoli was just rattled and out of sync because the o-line couldn't hold it together long enough? That was not the type of performance I was expecting out of him.

If Blount is kick off the team because of the punch then the two players they showed at the beginig of the game hitting each other in the head should be suspended also. i think it was number 1 for BSU and Oregons Jeff Maehl.

Also after watching the replay agin i did see the chair Blount was talking about it was one of those folding bench seats but he never used it in a threatining way.

I suppose that could be. It's hard to tell in that situation because emotions were running high and the Boise kid was running by when he tapped Blount. Again though the real kicker for Blount in terms of possible punishment is he didn't just react after that tap and clock him, he waited for a few seconds while the kid trash talked then he clocked him.

I think it was a mixture of both, The O-line didnt help Masoli at ALL. So he started throwing to his first read almost all the time, A lot of that I think had to do with him knowing he didnt have much time back there, as there was a Defensive lineman back there almost immediately every snap. I think the O-line will get better and have more cohesion, but I dont think they will be as dominant in the last few years though.

Waving folding chairs while screaming at opposing players must be a Boise thing? Perhaps it's a tradition there, but I could certainly see why a player would view that as a threatening gesture.

Reports that Chip Kelly suspended Blount for the year - really unfortunate and I feel bad for Blount; kid made a dumb mistake but it shouldn't cost him this much. So many people, especially in sports, get second chances after big mistakes (I don't consider Blount's offseason mistakes big) and I feel Blount should have received one here as well. Does he get another year of eligibility because the suspension is the entire year? Can he transfer to another program and gain this year back? I feel sad for the guy - he could have had a future in the NFL, and I hope he still gets a chance.

At least for Oregon LaMichael James (that's his name, yes?) looked good in his reps last night.

I think it was the right move for the Ducks -- and here is why. You have a new coach and he can not be easy on his players right now. You better believe that the players will definitely work their asses off to get ready for the next game. If Belotti was the coach, maybe the suspension might have been shorter. In the end, the Ducks are doing what is best for them, not necessarily what is best for Blount. The game was a black eye on the university. Now without Blount, maybe it takes a little pressure off Chip Kelly. The ducks may not be as expected to do big things and maybe CK can ease into this job a little easier. I do feel a little bad for Blount, but he was out of control and has no one to blame except for himself. Hopefully he gets a chance somewhere else, but I think the Ducks made the right decision here. My 2 cents from the outside looking in. I think an NFL team might still take a look at him either as an UDFA or late round pick.

I think they're both a couple dumb jocks who embarrassed themselves and their universities. In general, I don't think too much of the judgment of football players as playing a game that puts your long-term physical and mental health in jeopardy is pretty stupid in the first place. Dumb people making dumb decisions when they're jacked up on at least adrenaline/endorphins... who'd have thunk it?

That RB is a douchebag and deserves to be kicked off the team. Trash talking happens in football. I would have been ok with it if the RB just got in his face or even pushed the dude down, hell even a slap to the head would have been fine if the Boise St player had a helmet on....slight disaplinary action would have been deserved but nothing too big. What he did is NOT ok. Even after the initial punch it looks like he was fighting his teammates and would have kicked that fans ass if several people werent holding him back.

I dont have a team in college football, no alterior motives for my stance. That was bullshit thuggery

unless he's been in previous trouble with the team and this added to everything else is enough to just sit him down for the year.
