The longer a congressman or representative is in office the more they sell their souls to lobbyist and special interest groups, for money!
Plus, it gives others an opportunity to serve at the will of the people.
There is term limits on the President, that goodness.
Some of theses old gougers have made enough money (McDonnell, Waters) put them out to pasture.

I agree there needs to be term limits in the congress and senate. Tired of these same old people tbat have been their for 30 years. The government needs to be refreshed with new faces and ideas.

Agreed. The election system needs to change for that to work though. As it is, third party candidates have no realistic chance of winning and end up just being used to elect one of the two main parties over the other by taking one sides votes away.

Term limits is absolutely right. More than 2 parties opens the door to coalition governments (like they have in places like Italy and Israel) - the problem with these is that minority groups get unreasonable power in order to keep the government going - and basically the majority is being held hostage by the special interest groups (for example, I believe Israeli governments had orthodox parties as part of them since the 70s - despite the fact that they had both liberal and conservative majority governments - and that's why orthodox citizens get special treatment to the displeasure of the majority in Israel).

There is a dark side to dozens of parties - which honestly is less of an issue in the US imho given the state based Senate composition. That's my opinion.
