Olshey is not going to back out of a deal that is agreed upon. It makes him look bad and it hurts our bargaining position down the road. It made us look like complete tools when we threatened the league with legal action if someone tried to sign Darius Miles. Let's not be that guy again.

Yep

And if they are going to trade for a PF, wouldn't they want a stretch 4? They have to give Dwight his room.

Dwight should want his room, but Dwight is blinded by the fact he wants to play with is buddy Josh Smith. So as I said in another thread, it doesn't come down to what Houston wants it comes down to what Dwight was promised. And it seems pretty clear that a major selling point was that Dwight and Josh could play together in Houston.

I was just referencing expanding the deal and re-routing Lopez to ATL w/a sign n traded Hickson. Not backing out of a deal.

Didn't we renounce Hickson? Or was that an eventuality before the deal could be consummated?

I don't know why we'd renounce him before we need to. The deal can't get done until the 10th right?

Wait! What about that assurance?

Ha! I wasn't going to flip you shit about it. But since you brought it back up.....what were you thinking? Have you not followed this saga over the whole year?

I just assumed they would get their man again. I was coming up with any reasonable reason to why they would. That and I didn't think they would move a quality big man for a year rental in Howard. All is not lost, Bynum can be had again if they want him.

To be honest I think they they viewed getting rid of the nightmare named Bynum as a win regardless of who they got in return. I would be shocked if they ever took him back. Unless it was for a minimum salary.

Oden is available as well. I think he would take both the Heat and the Lakers seriously. Warm climate.

Twitter is so stupid. We are dumber now as a society than we were 5 years ago about all of this gossip, and how is the "first" to break some news.

It's Houston. Source close to Dwight Howard confirms that he'll join the Rockets. He'll inform the Lakers and make an official announcement.

I love it. You really get a glimpse of true impulse

Twitter is great. News is reported from all sides much more quickly. No more waiting for an article to be written to be printed the next day by which time the story has changed.

Done deal.

@Lakers

Statement from GM Mitch Kupchak: http://on.nba.com/14ZsLgV "We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers."

"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers. Naturally we're disappointed. However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great lakers fans will be proud to support. To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career."

Yep. And as a celebrity myself, it is such a convenient way to reach out to my fans. And you can always use Twitter to link people to more in depth articles.

The story is wrong half the time, though. It's why we all can't wait in a line anymore, either.

Really though, Howard would have been better off announcing his decision on ESPN over all of the cryptic Tweets from everywhere the last few days.

Papa and Mags..... how many followers you got on Twitter. I know you're dropping mad knowledge on the social media world!

This is the second time in his career Kobe has driven the best C in the league off his team. heheh I got some salty replies after texting that out to my laker fan friends
