I figured me, Arrowhead and GotSkillz needed a place to talk Mets Baseball. Today's game was amazing. 15-2. Pedro looked ok, didnt have his best stuff but he got us his 5 innings and since we had a 13-0 lead at the time we pulled him to keep him rested. He finally got his W that has eluded him since late April. Way too many no decisions, low scoring games and/or bad luck in there and hopefully he can pull off a streak of victories now ala Glavine. The offense....well, where shall I begin?Reyes walked 3 times today, unheard of for him and he stole 2 bases.Chavez is quickly turning into one of my favorite players, Great Defense, does the little things, can bunt/steal/sacrifice/and drop the hits in the clutch, always seems to come through. Beltran is amazing. I now see the player we signed away from Houston and damn is he good. .297 average (.406 OBP), 17 HR, 49 RBI, 12 SB and good D. If it wasnt for Jones and Edmonds he could have a legit shot at a Gold Glove. Delgado is coming out of his slump and that should scare alot of teams. David Wright is a great pure hitter. Batting .336 on the year and might compete for the batting title. Not to mention having good power to go along with it. Good clutch hitter. Milledge seems to be in a bit of a slump. Average has dropped to .256 but thats expected of a young player, lets see how he works himself out of it. Overall though Mets are 39-23 and 6.5 games in first place and its a good time to be a Mets fan after our 4 game sweep of the D'Backs.

Yup we did sweep the D-backs in 4 games. We showed them what a 1st place team looks like. Milledge has struggled and since Nady and Floyd are coming back then he'll be sent down. Next year we'll def see the arrival of Milledge. We just got a sneakpeak these past weeks. Beltran has been amazing. Just been named NL player of the week. Already surpassed his hr total from last year. We have been finally been able to see how good the mets offense can be when everyone is playing hot. Delgado has struggled lately but he did get his 2 doubles yesterday and the other day he got 2 hr's. As you said Chavez has been a godsend. He has amazing defense, speed, clutch hitting, and a great drag bunter. Alay soler and El duque have also been godsends. They both pitched CG's with less than 2 runs. Pedro finally got back on his winning track. If we take 2/3 then we'll put the phils away for a long time.

It's just his hits have been 2 walks and a HBP lately. Beltran = Not overrated. Where are all of those people now?

Soler and Duque have been good also, but El Duque worries me with his next start, he wasnt doing well in Arizona in their hitters park, and although he pitched a shutout his last time back he worries me in a hitters park like Philadelphia. Well see if hes changed or not. Alay Soler, well....he's the man. 16 Innings, 1 ER his last 2 starts. As for the Phillies, with Glavine, Duque and Trax we should be ok. I believe we get to miss Hamels and Lieber so that works in our favor.

Didn't want to make a new topic about this but are you guys surprised with the Tigers this year? They were one of the worst team for years and look how good they're playing. They could knock out the Chicago White Sox outta the playoffs if another wild-card team beat them out as long the Tigers are a lock lol

I expect Bonderman and Rogers to fall back to earth in the second half and they finish just out of the playoffs.

Its unbelievable that theyre doing this with Floyd batting horribly. He was the 2-3rd MVP on that team. Clutch hitting with a lot of hrs and rbi's. They would be even better offensively if Floyd was playing like last year.

They are a game out of last place. Yeah, thats right...Half a game better then the Nationals and only 1 game better then the Marlins. Short of a complete collapse by the Mets the division will end up being New York's. It's a bad divison and were taking full advantage of it They dont even have the pieces to work their way out of it either. They have a ton of overrated young hitters and have absolutely no pitching.
