He played on this injury for a full game and a half, and that was basically 3 weeks ago. He still dropped 19, 11, and 3 blocks in 32 minutes against the Rockets. I think people are worrying too much about this.

Hope you are right

Kim Hughes has regrets

After the way they made an example of him, I think it will be a while before anyone else within the organization flaps their lips to the media.

The guy had a long history with both Olshey and Kaman, but he crossed a line and paid the price. It was kind of a weird situation - almost like he wanted to get fired. Too bad, he was actually a decent big man coach.

Seems to me it's pretty likely Nurk plays game 1. Good on the FO for keeping their lips sealed till game time.

As long as the risk for aggravating the injury is minimal, I hope he plays, even if he's not 100%. I think even a 75%+ Nurkic will be an asset and we may at least get a glimpse of the team we saw when Nurkic was healthy.

If there's more than about 1% chance of re-injury/making it worse, just sit him. This series isn't all that important in the grand scheme of things. I most care about him being in pristine shape for next season, when the team might chase 50 wins.

As long as they wait till the last possible moment and he busts out of the locker room like Mr. T in the A team.... I am cool with playing him.

Exactly, except the Warriors... they aren't worrying enough.

Stotts's is about as tight lipped as you can be.

But he is avoiding answering any sort of questions about Nurkic even practicing. Makes me think the whole thing is a smokescreen.

He almost slipped a couple times...trying to hide a grin...nurk is playing....smokescreen

The reporter asked Jusif what the results of his x-rays yesterday were and his response was 'I don't know, I'm still waiting on the doc to find out what's going on.' Either they have the worlds slowest doctors, or I think they know more than they're letting on, right, Captain obvious?

I kind of think it's looking like he'll play.

While I have you here, how do you think Lillard's gonna do in game 1?

Also interesting that he evidently was supposed to get reevaluted today, but he had an X-ray on Wednesday. My guess is they've known his status the whole time and this was a planned "we'll see on Sunday" scenario.

Well.....if they know more than they're letting on, then that tells me that he's not healed yet.

This is not hard for GS. They either know he's playing, and if he's not, then they just have to play semi-skilled, and they'll win this series easily. Trying to bait them with supposed smokescreens and tight-lipped bullshit in this case isn't going to work for Stotts.

If GS sees at game time that he's not playing, they'll just shrug their shoulders and do their thing. And if Nurk IS playing at game time, they use the book they planned for him.

Not difficult for GS to do.

This tells me that Nurk is not yet healed. The doctors know this, but are just stalling for some reason. They are probably arguing with the coaching staff, Nurk/Nurk's agent, and trying to balance the impact not playing him has on this team.

If they knew Nurk wasn't playing wouldn't they have listed him as probable and held him out last moment?

I agree that the "smokescreen" idea is way overblown. I think the Blazers are really just choosing to make their decision as late as possible, because more information (how he's doing today and tomorrow) is better than less information. And if it gives the Warriors less information, great, though I don't think that's the primary motivation nor will that have much impact.

There is only more day, his leg isnt going to get any more better then it is today by Sunday. Either it's healed enough for him to play or it's not. Nurk has said if it were up to him he'd be playing from game 1 forward, plus he is practicing, shooting around, his leg is fine

The entire injury was a smokescreen. After whooping Denver and creating a little distance (plus the tiebreaker), we knew we'd get in and wanted to rest the big fella as one big smokescreen. Having a rested and healthy big man and not letting GS understand our system with him was our best chance to shock the world.

Yes. He needed rest more than anything and they used a very minor but existing injury to convince Nurk to rest.

It's also funny they announced the injury at the exact time Denver lost their game (forget who it was against, but it was right after they lost to Portland.)
