the only good news is...he made th trip. why... i dont know.... but he did.

What gets me is the lack of information . . . or more so the information is always so positive. Remeber this started with Oden could play the all star weekend if it was a regular season game. They go from that, to day by day but probably back very soon, to probably out another week.

How about explaining what is going on. Is it that the swelling won't go down? Is it that he is experiencing pain? All we know is it is a bone chip in his knee and that the possible date of his return keeps getting pushed out . . . but why? It feels like no one wants to say exactly what is going on with GO.

How does Greg come back into the game after the banged knee and now can't play 4 2 weeks? Something fishy is going on here, and Im tired of the Blazers beating around the bush..just tell us whats the status of the injury

The status is simple. A bone chipped occured when he banged knees with Magettee. The loose bone fragment cuase irratation and created swelling. They were hoping the bone chip would simply be absorbed and the swelling would go down. It still has not. So they have no clue when he will get better. If they feel they need to go in and scope the knee removing the debris then that would be the last resort, but at this time they are hoping it will be absorbed by the body.

I have no idea if this is anything remotely to being tue, and I alwys stay at Marriotts, so i guess I'm srewed..... just guessing based on bits and pieces of info that have been thrown around.

On courtside they said that the swelling had gone down but he still has tightness in his knee I bet you he could play infact they said he could probably play with no serious consequence but they are being careful with him and rightfully so

Thank you . . . didn't know that.

it seems to me that ever since oden had the micro fracture surgery, the blazers have been overly cautious in dealing with him and even very minor injuries he suffers.

Thanks for the update.

It was during the MB update him and rudy asked him bout it

If it is bad news, they are going to stonewall as long as possible. If they knew about the severity of the injury all along, the failure to make a deal at the deadline was a simple case of running up the white flag on the season. Obviously, they don't want to admit that.

As for what was said on courtside - I will believe it when I see Oden on the court.

Oden has hardly been the primary reason for this team's success this year. It can be argued that, at times, he hinders the flow of the offense.

Let's not act like losing Oden is like the Lakers losing Shaq during their run.

I don't know anything, but my opinion is he will play at Minny!

I think he'll be fine and I think he'll play at Minny. That may be overly optimistic, but that's how I feel about this situation. If the injury was serious he would not have traveled with the team. I think in these cases you just have to wait for the body to absorb the bone fragment so there is no more irritation.

Maybe their strategy is to feed us the bad news in little doses. If they came out and said, "Oden out for 3-4 weeks", there would have been more of an uproar, but instead, they just keep saying, "Just a little more time, just a little more time."

You know, shit happens when you play sports. If Corey had hit another player the same way, there's no telling how long they'd be out either. Take a look at Shaq's career. He's played under 70 games 10 seasons. Yet he was always an impact player in the playoffs.

However, I do hope the Blazers are pumping Greg full of calcium to harden his bones. Paul Allen has billions, maybe he can find some really high tech knee pads or braces that we can "supplement" Greg with as well to try and avoid these types of injuries.

S I was reading the OLive Oden article, and was reading the comments when I saw this...

Peeps own it...this cat does not want to play in Ptown. Hez dun...feel it, and deal with it. Hez neva guna live up to da "we are the champions" chant that went on when he was drafted. The jokes on the fans. Sad but true.

Hmm... The name of the guy posting it was Lakeron8. Maybe that is Mixum?

I thought it was weird because his negativity, having the quotes in the comment, the three dots, and finishing with "Sad but true". Only thing it is missing is the caps lock and some of the spelling is off (haven't seen MIXUM spell like that).

Anyway, here is the article if someone cares for it... http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/02/mcmillan_among_those_perplexed.html It is about Oden's injury (we have a thread on this as well).

I've known that Mixum isn't a Blazer fan for a long time. When you realize that it makes it easier to understand him.

Seriously, what is up w/oden. Why is the coach throwing him under the bus too?
is it something worse like a crack in the knee cap, is there something we dont know?
