Who ran onto the court to assist Greg? It looked like someone from the Houston bench.
75/100 wanted a Bowie.
Hope their all happy.
For all the bows taken in Portland, Kevin Pritchard's legacy will likely be reduced to this: He picked the wrong player in the '07 Draft.
Bill Walton
Same Bowie
..Greg Oden
How can you not put him in that company?

He still hates KP.

How could Kevin Pritchard possibly have known this would happen? Unless he was superstitious and believed that history was doomed to repeat itself.
I hope Oden comes back next year and eats bill simmons.

I was really hoping last night was a bad dream.
Ugh.
I assumed that's the only thing it could have been. No twisting, no impact, nothing else made sense...co-worker is at the game...said that everyone around him knew it was a broken kneecap through word of mouth pretty quickly.
There was plenty of red flag-raising injury history with Oden prior to being drafted. I was still in the "you have to pick Oden" camp, however. How could Kevin Pritchard possibly have known this would happen? Unless he was superstitious and believed that history was doomed to repeat itself.
Stat of the week will be the one oldmangrouch posted elsewhere comparing number of games played through 3 seasons for Oden and Bowie. Hint: Bowie played about 40 MORE through 3 seasons...
I still don't fault the Blazers for drafting Oden. Same as I don't blame them for drafting Bowie in '84. Trying to fill a need. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that both players with knee problems in college continued to have knee problems in the pros.
I'm all for schadenfreude, but this situation is just too brutal. Best of luck to Oden. I hope he comes back next year and picks up where he left off.

Before anyone else points it out, I'd like to state the following in a calm and rationale voice:
Bowie and Oden did not have knee problems in college.
Thanks!
Bowie had broken BONES in college (I think he missed 2 years). Greg had an injured wrist in college.
