Trouba and Goodrow were not worth close to the money they got. They had to go. This team has too many over sensitive, pussy veterans on it. So either you get rid of them or bring somebody in there who’s gonna fix it. Torts. Almost everything I’m seeing or hearing from this team that was bad is right up Torts alley. And I’m not the biggest Torts guy. However, at this time, he’s exactly what we need. They also need to get a young, exciting coach for the Wolfpack and when Torts runs his course not let him them go to some other team this time.
 
Personally, I think Drury is below average as a general manager, but Dolan sucks him off, so he’s not going anywhere. We will see if his plan of drafting all these 6’5 + guys works out.
 
Whether it's Torts, or somebody else with similar traits, the Rangers need a tough, hold players accountable, no BS coach, that is clear to me. These vets really are ridiculous. They whined and cried after the Devs series embarrassment, they are whining about Trouba and Goodrow now after another embarrassing season, it truly is crazy. Trade some of them, and then you need somebody to finally hold these guys accountable and put them in their place.

The terrible example that gets set when a guy like Zibanejad is a joke all season, and yet he still plays 20 mpg, it's really bad for the whole team. Where is the leadership, not just from the coach, but the players also.

What a total mess, which is no surprise when your team underperforms this much you know there is a locker-room issue, and the culture is not good/lacking leadership from the coaches/players. Same core players, same result as two seasons ago. Should be pretty clear what needs to happen.
 
This is a power move from Dolan saying to the pussy vets on the team. You are the reason we are on our 3rd coach. The reason we didn't make the finals. The owner officially put a lot of vets on notice today.

LMFAO. Dude, you’re beyond clueless. Drury is the one who is keeping young players down in the minors. Drury is the one making HORRENDOUS trade after HORRENDOUS trade, weakening this team. Drury is the one that keeps hiring flame out coach after flame out coach. Drury is the one not scratching players like Mika even though they suck and killed this team. This franchise deserves all the losses it will be accumulating over the next several years. Can’t wait to become the San Jose Sharks of the East and compete with them for the first pick. Oh wait….we don’t even HAVE our pick next season. Hahahahahaha. Fuck this franchise. Fuck this owner. Can’t wait for Dolan to die.

He is the one that can decide to scratch whomever he wants and call up whomever he wants and yet what does he do? He keeps the same shitty players on the ice night after night and keeps the few young talented guys we have down in Hartford. You are the simple minded fuck that always talks about sending a message to vets. Please tell us all, what message did he sent this year? The only messages he sent this year were that he will get rid of a player by waiving them and using a loophole to get them out of here(can’t wait to see how that helps us sign free agents and how many of them we will now inevitably have to give NMC to), that he will publicly talk about trading players before getting a list of teams they won’t go to thereby cancelling out any hope of a trade and screwing that up, overpaying a goalie when we have yet another young goalie in the system that lots of people are high on (so now we will have to trade him because it’s pointless to keep him a bury him in the minors), and holding no one accountable and letting an entire season turn to shit before firing an inept coaching staff. But yea, he’s doing a great job.
Also, you dumb illiterate fuck, no where did I say the players aren’t responsible. I’ve said, as have others on this board, that several players need to go including K’Andre, Fox, Kreider, Mika amongst others. But yea, you go on living in that dumbass world of yours.
 
The players on this team were cluster fucks. Very disappointed that the head coach did not hold anybody accountable for turnovers and bad defensive play the entire season. Thus why they didn’t stop. The coaching staff decides who’s going to play. It’s not the general manager. The one thing I disagree with as far as Drury goes was Robertson should’ve been called up after the first 30 games. That’s where the GM decides on players. Recalling players from the minors, but once they’re recalled the coach decides if they’re gonna play.
 
well, the direction of this team is now 100% in Drury's hands. There is no question about it. This is now Drury's team and will be a direct reflection of his ability as a President and GM. I'm rooting for him.
 
No fire or leadership on the team until Miller provided a little after the trade, but he wasn't all that great either.
 
Miller, coming in mid-season wasn't really in a position to immediately change the leadership/culture in the locker room. With an off-season and a camp/pre-season he will establish himself. At least I assume that's what you're referring to as "not all that great".

This is SPOT ON. The one who is supposed to hold the players accountable and move on from them if it isn't working is CHRIS DRURY the Pres and GM of the team. He acts like some other guy is picking the players for this team and some other guy decided to keep the stale core together after the NJ loss and after the Florida loss.

DRURY is the guy who kept this core and these "pussy" players together.
DRURY is the guy who hired weak coaches who didn't hold the players accountable.

It is so difficult to be a fan of this team. Only the New York Rangers under James Dolan can see a Pres/GM who will have 3 coaches in 4 seasons, has made many terrible trades, and has had his team's season end in embarrassment twice in 3 seasons, get a multi-year extension.

What a disgrace, and we are sheep for accepting it.

I am not following your train of thought here.

Who picked the players - DRURY.
Who decided to keep the core together - DRURY.
Who therefore didn't hold the players accountable - DRURY.

Do you not realize Drury is the Pres/GM of this team and has been for 4 years. It is HIS JOB to pick the players, build the team, keep the players, hold the players accountable etc. And if you want to get on the coaches also for not holding the players accountable...who picked the coaches...again the Pres/GM of the organization - DRURY.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE PRES/GM OF THE ORGANIZATION: CHRIS DRURY - not some mysterious 3rd party who isn't holding players accountable.

Agreed, as a fan all you can do is root for Drury to be successful and hopefully be bold this summer. My expectations of success are as low as can be, but I am rooting for him as you wrote. It is all in his in over his head hands now...

Honestly, I don't think Dolan knows any of the players on the team. He just sees 2 ECFs and one playoff appearance so based on that he gave Drury this extension. He has no clue about hockey. He just signs paychecks and wants to make as much revenue as possible.
 
Brooks is a moron, but sometimes he’s spot on and you could see in that video that he was essentially calling the vet players on this team a bunch of pussies. Boyle backed him up 100%. Boyle also credited Torts for developing him as a young player. Brooks said he didn’t want a retread coach because he scared to death that Torts will come back in who absolutely hates him

Brooks literally called this the worst Rangers team he ever covered. He obviously didn’t mean in overall talent and record. It’s clear they’re crybabies.
 
That's saying something for Brooks because he's been here during some pile of shit Rangers teams.
 
I haven’t posted here for many years but I’ve enjoyed reading all your takes. My 2 cents on Drury is that he has been awful and should’ve been fired. I looked at his 4 drafts vs JD’s 2 drafts. It’s not completely fair as JD’s picks have had more time to develop but as of the last game, 8 players taken by JD/Gorton were on the team and only 2 by Drury, which are Perrault (5 games) and Othmann (aprx 20). 2019 draft had Robertson, Jones, and Edstrom. Kaapo was traded. 2020 we have Laf, Schneider, Cuylle, Berard and Rempe. Each GM might have another 1 or 2 that might make it.
Four years after taking over the team is still majority Gorton/JD players. Add in all the overpaying for deadline rentals that has left us with a poor prospect pool and a lack of picks in the next few years and we’re are in terrible shape. Thanks for nothing Drury.
 
I thought JD only had one draft, but it was the best one we had in a long time. Granted he had more picks. Mancini was used to get Miller so you have to factor that in. The returns from Drury’s drafts look like they’re going to be promising with a lot less picks. Next year we should start seeing the fruits of Drury drafts. Roobroeck is coming. Othmann. Perreault in a couple of years. Fortescue next year. Emery after that.
 
Not an exact comparison and your points are valid. Garand is also a JD pick and Kaapo was basically given away. I would have loved to see what 2 more years of JD drafts would have produced. I have to believe we would be in much better shape now.
 
I never figured out why JD was fired. I just assumed that he was supporting Gorton who sucked.
 
They should hire Messier as a president and let Dury be the gm. Drury cannot do both but idiot Dolan thinks he can.

Very telling, and yet another reason why some of us were incredulous Drury kept the core of the team together after the Florida loss. It never made any sense.

I also admit I find this new narrative quite interesting; Dolan/Drury are holding the players accountable by keeping the Pres/GM and not giving into the pussy players, they are showing them who is in charge. That narrative is puzzling to me, hasn't Drury been in charge for 4 years now? Why didn't he show the players who is in charge the past 4 years?

Now Drury is in charge and won't take any BS from the whiny players, and to show that we'll sign him to an undeserved extension. The past 4 years didn't happen, and Drury hasn't been in charge, and didn't put the current team together. Starting now...lol.
