I think swanigan and Collins are interesting they both have a couple NBA skills but lack (a lot in other areas), I think both have a shot to be solid role NBA role players and maybe starters in the right situation, but there’s a lot of work to be done.
Last year though I wasn’t a big fan of the Collins pick, and while I still don’t think he’s quite a ways off, I do see stretches of being good.
Swanigan I thought played ok in the minutes he got last year and I was sort of surprised he didn’t get more he does have a quickness issue though.

He did have a rip through move that was surprisingly quick today, but I feel like he's always gonna struggle getting his shot off inside. His footspeed defensively ia pribably ginna be a continuous issue too.. His shooting will probably be what makes him or breaks him.

My bad, I respect you are open minded and like the pick now... he is a good player... I just don’t think wingspan and standing reach are the end all be all on if a player will be good... more of a bonus

It's all good.

It had partly to do with our situation.. we have three undersized guards, just drafted another one before him, and then Trent... the situation didn't call for selecting another undersized guard, and an 8'2 reach is definitely undersized. 8'5-8'6 is another story. It was partly giving up two 2nds, and partly because I have major questions about his defense. But I'll give him a chance to prove me wrong, I don't just look for negatives in specific players..

I’m not an nba scout but Athletism while important doesn’t mean a lot to me. A guy can play or they can’t. I’ve seen some guys that are 6’6 built like an NBA athlete and couldn’t do jack on a basketball court. I’ve also seen some 5’5 dudes that had game.
To me you can always kind of tell when a guy is just naturally gifted at basketball and when they aren’t.
Obviously a great athlete can learn to be a really good basketball player, but the fact Simons is skinny or some guys wingspan isn’t 18feet doesn’t mean anything of note to me.

I mean, if he can get his shot off in traffic, great. But I don't think he can do so at the highest level, and I feel like he got blocked a lot last year or shot a lot of faraway hooks/layups to avoid it.

Zach Randolph has that problem too, but guys can figure out how to do it. Footwork, muscle, hard work . It’s not just a comment on Swanigan, it was more general then that.

I’m not remotely worried about Collins. Just stop

Caleb is awkward to me

I really, really want Layman to be good. That put back was fucking ridiculous

Baldwin might be my fave Blazer. He brings a nastiness we absolutely need

Trent will be a steal in the 2nd rd. What a great interview after the game too

Simons has a very natural feel for the game and he believes he belongs

Grayson was born to be on the Utah Jazz and I’m going to hate him for years

I’m confused. Cuz you’re not so sure in this moment here. But pretty much every post you’re blasting folks if you don’t agree? There’s disagreeing, and then there’s making sure everyone sees your opinion and that your opinion is the correct and only opinion.

You’re a millennial. It’s a millennial thing. But they aren’t that self-aware of such things.
 
Caleb has a personal history of overcoming overwhelming issues in his life and improving everything he's been faced with...I think this guy is a winner....he doesn't give up...doesn't disengage...doesn't leave the gym...he to me is a man on a mission...I wouldn't doubt him at all or what he's capable of accomplishing...the thing he has that's like ZBo and Al Jefferson is that he plays below the rim...he uses his lower core to create space, not his upper body...Noah Vonleh did that too...I'm excited to see him face NBA competition for a whole season and take it to the next level

I agree, I think even if Caleb doesn’t make it long in the NBA he will be successful somewhere in life. The guy works, and keeps working.

I think Neil would trade CJ for the right package and/or player. His value is certainly trending up and Im sure there will some interesting offers.

I liked this part the most:

Aside from the late-game flare up Baldwin was in control and calculated. He initiated the offense and tried to get teammates involved early before becoming aggressive with drives late in the game. He said that approach was learned from watching Blazers’ all-star Damian Lillard.

“It’s important to get guys going … it gets a rhythm going,’’ Baldwin said. “I’m watching Damian Lillard play all season: he’s relaxing, he’s relaxing, he’s being patient, getting CJ involved, he’s getting Nurk involved … I have the best point guard in the league to model after, and I think I did a good job of that today.’’

Summer League coach Jim Moran said Baldwin’s performance was “great” but added that it went beyond the statistics.

“We all know he can play the point. But having him be able to kind of dictate, control, get guys where they need to be, slow down and talk to guys … more of a leadership role is what we’ve been looking for,’’ Moran said. “And I thought he did a great job today, not just verbally, but with how hard he played, picking up defensively and just setting the tone for us.’’

Your obsession with me is quite strange.

Where did I do this in this thread? I literally said Caleb is a below average shooter, I got called a hater, and I said that's a millennial type of argument. That's it bro. You literally obsess over me, and always come with the same BS no matter what I do.

Honesty I’m not sure he would or not. I mean if They offered Anthony Davis or something I’m sure he would go for it l. Neil in my estimation at least tends to over value “his guys”. I think that’s both good and bad at times. He also doesn’t seem like the type to make a big trade.
He reminds me of that one guy in business meetings that is always asking about ROI, and wants to do risk analysis on everything and is mostly unwilling to do medium risk moves. Now like I said that’s not always bad, and it can definitely save you from doing something stupid. That’s just my impression of him.
 
Early summer league over reaction, but was an opinion I had, and maybe didn't share here, when we drafted him, but Trent will be our "Klay Thompson" in SG waiting in the wings for when we trade CJ(Montae)
