I think he's going to under-pay for everybody. So he won't have to fire them. They'll just leave. And we'll hire some assistants to do the job for half price.

Once we find some that have some success they will get better offers and move to other teams.

We will not be able to keep quality players. They won't respect the inexperienced and underpaid coaching staff.

They will be offended and sign with other teams happily offer more money and perks.

We will be a farm team for serious organizations.

I'm not sure how long this will go on, but I do believe he will not be happy with losing.

He'll blame the city, the state, and the fans. He'll sell for a profit to the highest bidder.

Dundon seems to like to haggle with salary costs. He threw out a ridiculously lowball number and I'm pretty sure that was just to wait for a counter proposal. Tiago has had a few contract meetings with him. If Tiago counters and Dundon gets him for the league minimum of 4million a year, then he'll have done his job. Offer 1.5 and end up paying 3.5-4. Makes Tiago feel like he won the negotiation all the while getting a cheap deal. Tiago bought a house here and wants to stay long term. We won't know until Chauncey is officially off the books. I'm all in on Tiago getting the gig. I think he's going to be a great coach.

yeah this strikes me as tom doing due diligence by putting public feelers out there and making tiago's agent fine with a low number.

Even if Dundon got Tiago to sign for cheap, the contract is going to have so many outs and would likely be short. Lets say he gets Splitter to sign a two year deal worth $4.5 million total. Great, but we are going to have to negotiate every year because Tiago is going to want to have outs after every year.

With what Tiago showed this year, I could see people lining up to offer him big bucks as the #1 assistant, if he doesnt get other head coaching offers that would blow ours out of the water.

Given the typical coaching carousel has 5-6 openings per year -> I think Splitter is likely to snag one of those other positions.

Would coaching the Blazers (at 1/2 price) be better than coaching the Pels, Bucks, Warriors? Maybe

-Hard to say how good of a job Cronin has done when nobody knows what working under Jody & Co was really like.
-Tiago and his guys haven't done much in the way of development and the x's and o's haven't been good, either. For having so many good individual defenders, the team def is not good. In his defense, he did take over at maybe the worst time of year possible.
-The roster is all over the place. No frp, a couple bloated contracts, a city and state that have no appeal to outside talent, no clear course to what the organization is doing.
For my money, the best thing new ownership could do is: take away any doubt that the team could possibly be moved and give a clear, concise plan on the course of the team. GM, Tiago, vets, young guys? What is the plan?

First the weird kicking people out of their hotel room thing. Then the looking for a bargain basement head coach report. Now no T-Shirts for a playoff game?

What I don't get is that first impressions are so important. This is such a bad look; such a bad way to introduce yourself to a new city and fanbase.

I don't get it.
