Joakim Noah is out for the rest of the season with an injury. Bulls will be looking to dump his expiring salary and pick up healthy help for the playoffs.

Noah & 1st for Henderson.

Bulls get under the luxury tax and save $10+ million, plus get wing depth.

Portland saves $7+ million is salary floor expense and add a late first round pick for a player probably not re-signing here. ($s not confirmed, wild ass guess on my part, feel free to do the math and post)


Win-win.

Philly has the following 1st round picks this summer:
  • Their own (currently slotted at #1)
  • Lakers 1st round pick (Top 3 protected 2016 and 2017)
  • Miami's 1st round pick (Top 10 protected.....currently slotted at #21)
  • OKC's 1st round pick (Top 15 protected.....currently slotted at #28)
Philly has too many inside big men and 3-4 1st round picks coming this summer. They are VERY young, would like to unclog the middle from so many inside big men and want to actually start winning more games since Colangelo took over.

Meyers didn't sign an extension so he may get a toxic offer this summer anyhow and not be back. CJ has really blossomed but does much better when he plays with the ball and not off the ball. He has struggled since Dame came back going 39-117 (.333). CJ is much more comfortable when he has the ball in his hands, can dribble, create, dance, juke, and set up players more often and get his own rhythm. It was that way in the playoffs last year in his huge came against Memphis as Dame was so off, CJ basically took over playing PG and Dame played off the ball when they were in together.

I would like a pick higher that #21 but Philly isn't giving up their #1 pick for that even if Portland threw in it's 1st rounder (if they keep it) IMO. I would also ask for either Richaun Holmes or Robert Covington but that wasn't in the rumor.

What do you think.....as this rumored to at least being thrown about.

The problem I have with this trade is, where will the offense come from? Dame can't do it all. And if we're starting Nerlens and Mason up front, teams won't pay them one bit of respect and will double, maybe triple team Lillard.

Interesting idea. The Bulls are only over the tax line by $4.2M (noted in earlier post). Noah's salary for this year is $13.4M. If they're concerned about payroll, another individual they're probably looking to remove from their books is Mike Dunleavy with a salary of $4.5M (2 yrs).

If they're looking for help this season, they're probably going to need more depth with Bigs. Noah was giving them 22 mpg at the center spot. Their only solid Bigs left are Mirotic, Gasol, and Gibson. They've got wings like Butler, Rose, Snell, McDermott, Brooks, Hinrich, and Moore. I'm not sure Henderson would add much there.

If they're giving up a 1st rounder, they're probably going to want some young talent. Perhaps Leonard? They could use him this year, and have him as a restricted FA this summer if they really liked him. If they're looking for some veteran Big help, perhaps also include Kaman.

Stranger things have happened I guess.

I think I'd add Meyers to the trade so the pick can be unprotected.

Why not just trade for a lottery protected 1st, Dunleavy and Noah for Kaman/Leonard? They get a needed big back who can spread the floor and a paint big, they get rid of the salaries so if they like Leonard they can resign. Then we take that pick and package it with CJ(might have to also include Aminu or Vonleh) and go after Phili for thier 1st?

Potentially puts us like this with tons of money to spend and I think this line up would turn a top FA's head to want to join to put us into contention Like maybe Durant?

Durant would not come here.

I think Meyers+Hendo for Noah and a mid 20s pick is extremely fair. I'd even be open to re-upping Noah on a prove it deal (2/20 w/ TO). Take our pick+Bulls pick to move up a couple spots to draft Dragan. In FA go hard for Harrison Barnes, pick up minor piece like Greivis Vasquez as well.

Dragan / Davis / Vonleh

You had me up until the Philly part. My guess is that no one will be prying away the #1 or #2 picks this year. I think Simmons and Ingram have distanced themselves from the rest of the pack. If the Blazers are looking at those two, they'll probably have to settle with the lottery odds.

NOt bad, but one thing stands out. Noah is not a long term fit and I think Davis is the backup Center with Vonleh the backup PF behind Dragan. Leaves us weak in the C compared to the rest. One solid rotational away though I think. And tyhat wont be very hard to find to make a trade next year mid season with the assets we would have in Vonleh/Harkless and Aminu

My thought is if Noah gets hurt again/doesn't work we'd just move Davis to backup 5 and Vonleh to backup 4 with Aminu and Alexander as emergency guys at 4/5.

I just wonder if thats enough impact from the bench bigs. But either way we would have flex. I like it.

Your right, the Bulls are good on wings. They need a big which we can do, or a back-up PG which we can not do. I like your trade idea better than mine.

I don't see it happening (surely the Nets can get more), but if it did, I don't see (outside an irrational hatred of Love) how any Blazer fan could be unhappy with a deal like that.

Send BK Noah, Hark, or future picks from CLE to entice em? I dunno... I don't think that value is too far of.

I hate Love, but the floor geometry on offense with Dame-CJ-Love can create some serious problems for defenses. And I trust Terry to maximize Love's skills way more than Blatt has been able to.

That SF/C to fit along with the trio have to be lockdown defenders/rim protectors though.

Yep. Find a way to get Whiteside sent up here from Miami along with getting Love, and we have a contender.
 
Sounds good to me! And I'm one of the few who hasn't completely given up on Meyers. I'd probably include Ed Davis over Noah, if needed. And that's weird for me to type that - I like Ed and I'm not on the Vonleh train. But Vonleh could be a better defender than Ed within the next year or two, and he won't miss his free throws. I also like that he's finally shooting. He still has a poor touch around the basket, but is showing that he can shoot the J.
 
Cleveland would look like idiots if they dumped Love. The owner has appeared this way too much in the press lately. They won't trade Love... which I'm totally OK with.
 
well anything the owner wants to do has to go through bron bron first so its up to him really

Toss Alexander and/or Montero in to make it happen.

Get Whiteside at center and keep Aminu at SF and thats it!

I'm one of those guys who used to argue Love was fools gold, overrated, stat padder, etc. (Because he was.) At this point though, I think he'd be very useful on this Blazers team, and I'd welcome him. That is if we don't have to break up our back court to get him.

Regardless of whether or not we get Love, we can, and should offer Whiteside a max contract this off-season. He is most certainly not going to be playing for the Heat, who are trying to make a run at Durant and don't even have Whiteside's bird rights.
