From what I've heard, Dennis Schroder wants starters minutes ... which we can't offer in #RipCity.

All I know is Teague has been a pain in the ass for the Blazers. I hope he stays in the east.

Feel like UTA will make a run at him, and I think they have the assets to get him. ugh in our division.

They have Burke and Exum. Who are they not happy with? Exum has been injured but they were high on him.

They're starting Raul Neto. Burke looks like a backup. Exum is the question mark, but if they want to make the playoffs this year, they need a PG. They're talking about it in SLC as well, according to Zach Lowe

They’re poking around the point guard market now, according to several league sources, and they’ll look again over the summer. With Hood and Hayward able to handle the ball, the ideal upgrade isn’t an expensive dribbling maestro like Mike Conley. A spot-up guy willing to grind on defense would be perfect, but the best matches, such as Patrick Beverley and George Hill, aren’t available. Jrue Holiday would work, but suitors are petrified of his leg issues, and the Pelicans, low on quality young players, are reluctant to deal him, league sources said. Utah showed little interest in Mario Chalmers, a rare missed opportunity.

I think we need to try to get Smart from Boston. Hes a big guard that can lockdown either gaurd position defensively while providing an extra ball handler, and would be a perfect fit with Dame, CJ, and Crabbe. Itd also be great to acquire one of their 3 first round picks this year (obviously wont get the Brooklyn one)

How could we do this? By absorbing salary/sending out Meyers+Filler in a 3 team trade that nets the Celtics a star. Something like this:

We get a 2016 First from Boston, while Brooklyn gets a one or two BOS Firsts (possibly future 1sts) along with 2nds.

We get Smart, and another 1st for the rebuild, while not downgrading in the present (David Lee replaces Meyers) or sacrificing flexibility (We could buyout Jerebko this year)

Brooklyn clears up to $30M in cap space for next year while obtaining young assets as well as draft picks which they desperately need.

Boston upgrades their frontcourt tremendously without downgrading much at all (Smart is the only downgrade, but theyre loaded with guards).

You have Boston giving up a ton (3 picks and two young cheap prospects) for an injury prone center. Doesn't seem like an Ainge deal to me.

Oh Hell no. I'd hate that deal.

What part of it would you hate? The vastly improved backcourt defense, the improved production and decision making from the SF spot, or the improved floor spreading from having a center who can shoot from more that 5 feet from the hoop?

I wouldn't do McCollum alone for that.

I'd deal CJ alone for those 3 in a heartbeat.

I don't see how that makes sense for POR personally. Jae Crowder is better than Aminu but not enough better to lose CJ for. CJ himself is rumored to get big names (if we decide to move him).

Cj is easily the best player in that deal and is still projecting up. The other players are all of similar value.

You don't trade the best player in a deal unless it's an upgrade

Plus a CJ/Thomas backcourt would be even worse than ours defensively.

For me, part of it is that I don't particularly like Aminu (poor decision making) or Plumlee (too limited) very much anymore, and I really like what Bradley brings (PG skills with top-tier defense and adequate 3-point shooting).

Plus a CJ/Thomas backcourt would be even worse than ours defensively.

Well, that wouldn't really be our problem, now would it? Plus, Boston would still have Smart as a defensive complement to both.

People keep talking about wanting to tank for a star, and you trade arguably our best asset /second best player for 3 guys who all are role players. Improving our role players is not the goal. Throwing in plumlee and aminu makes it horrible.

I'm not one of those people.

I would target Boston in a trade scenerio due to they got tons of draft picks. But I know Danny if it not to his advantage he won't deal how you think he got all those pick he got rid of Kg and pierce for picks. Now he will upgrade is roster by trading picks or in the draft.

Boston and Portland have the same problem - a lot of very good players, not a lot of great players. We have 1, Boston has 0. Shuffling around these players doesn't really make a lot of sense.

They have tons of picks, and getting a 15ppg and 20ppg game scorer in the frontcourt would make them contenders. That's worth it.

Was listening to the Dunc'd on podcast (highly recommend this if you guys are into bball podcasts), and the guys were talking trade deadline stuff. The guys reiterated how we could go so many ways at the deadline. We have the power to help clear a team's financial issues completely just by absorbing salary, and we can be aggressive in trying to get assets because we are one of the only teams in the league with this much cap space.

Trades like Joe Johnson for Henderson, or Kaman for Noah, etc were thrown around, with more assets like picks as incentives coming our way. They said that we really aren't too far away from coming into the mix of things. Getting a better big and better 3 and D guy than Aminu... and we're back.

Have to feel like we're gonna make at least a few moves come trade deadline. Picking up assets while saving money is a no brainer.

What date was that podcast?
I was looking for it, but didn't see one Blazers related.

CJ and Hendo to Cleveland
Blake Griffin to Portland
Kevin Love and Mo Williams to Clippers

Cleveland balances its lineup with wing and guard depth. Gives them ability to play LeBron at PF and they get a trade exception. Guard scoring with CJ if Kyrie is hurt again. Can wait until summer to use exception to save massive luxury tax.

Neil cashes in CJ at a sell high moment for his former #1 pick Griffin. Allows the Blazers to tank the rest of the season and keep their lottery pick.

Clippers get a healthy PF on a longer contract and a fresh vibe from the negativity of the current roster. Mo helps their bench.
