The biggest asset we have is the ability to absorb a huge contract.

This team could land a very good player without giving up any real assets.

The player would have to fit onto Neil's target age range - under 28ish.

Candidates?
Drummond! :)

I already gave you my suggestion in another thread, and you "ick"ed it. Thad Young would be the offensive threat at the 4 that this team needs. Unlike Meyers and Noah, he has no hesitation to shoot, and he's hitting at a +50% rate this season. His defensive metrics look pretty good as well. I think he and Aminu would work well together as our starting 3/4.

Nearly 85% of his attempts are < 16', with a fairly even distribution in the paint and outside the paint. And his percentages are all solid. Raw numbers are all solid (21/9/2, with 2.1 blks) and has a 21 PER.

And contrary to popular belief, he's a actually become a decent rim protector. Shitty rebounder, but could be similar to his brother in a way, where he does the boxing out while his PF gets the boards. Thad Young is averaging career high rebounding numbers this year next to Brook.

Biggest fear with him is his foot. But if we wanted a quick rebuild this summer, adding the BK PF/C combo here will giving up some young scrubs and absorbing salary could be an option.

So you don't like the Davis/Brolo pairing?

Don't like the idea of Davis starting or playing major minutes period. He's a terrific role player for up to 20 mpg, but he's not a strong enough defender to compensate for his lack of impact on offense to warrant huge minutes.

And besides, Thad and Brolo would work pretty well I think, next to Crabbe (or Aminu) /CJ/Dame. Good floor geometry and skillsets there.

So those two make a combined 31ish million. You were thinking about waiting until after the season and absorbing most of that?

Only reason being I don't want them killing our lotto chances this season.

That's what I figured. It would be nice though if we could dump hendo and Kaman for one of them right now. The thing is, they don't want to tank because they don't have a pick, so clearing space makes no sense to me.

I think a good place to start is looking at tax teams. Cleveland, Miami, okc, GS, clippers, Houston, Chicago. Something small in return for saving us both some $$could be possibility.

I bet OKC would trade us Kanter

Any interest in Markieff Morris? Listening to Zach Lowe and Windhorst, both of em feel like he's a valuable piece to invest in if you have a nice foundation.

What if we ask for their pick from CLE as incentive?

I love the skills he has as a mini-Draymond.

Huh? He's a MUCH better defender than Brolo...

Draymond is the CP3 of PF's.

Morris is much more Portland version Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

As I noted in the Blazer Salary Cap thread -

The contracts for Alexander, Montero, and Frazier are guaranteed now for the season. Not a big surprise since the Blazers are so far under the team minimum salary. Apparently they had to be waved today for it to be effective Jan 10.

If a team was looking to cut salary, they could have traded for one of these guys and simply waved them to save their remaining salary. Frazier was an obvious candidate since his services are easily replaceable. I wonder if the market for a 'Salary Dump' trade isn't very strong out there with the CAP going up significantly over the next few years. Teams may be okay with taking a one year hit. Instead, teams may be more focused on adding established players for a playoff push . That probably rules out a Kaman trade (along with most of the guys on our roster). Henderson only has marginal value in that department.

I don't see Brolo fitting Stotts or Thibs systems. Good player, but built for the old NBA.

If the Blazers are plan to can Stotts and go to Thibs is Brooke the guy you really want though?

Dude, if we get Thibs and Brooke comes with it. SIGN ME UP!!! FIRE STOTTS!!!!

So I'm in the camp that believes that if Cousins becomes available that we have more than enough to get him if we trade CJ. I wonder how much more we'd have to give up to get Rudy Gay. I honestly think a starting line-up of Lillard/Crabbe/Gay/Cousins/defensive C would be balanced and mesh well.

SAC Gets 2019 and 2021 1st Round picks from us.

Us:
Lillard (36) / Collision (12)
Crabbe (18) / Belinelli (16) / Collision (14)
Gay (35) / Crabbe (13)
Cousins (36) / Vonleh (12)
Davis (30) / Asik (18)

SAC
Rondo / Curry
McCollum / McLemore
Caspi / Butler
Anderson / Kofous
Leonard / Cauley-Stein

Sacramento could possibly improve from this, as having Anderson and Leonard bring both bigs out of the key with their shooting would allow tons of space for Rondo and McCollum to operate, which could lead to a very high scoring offense. This is the type of high octane team that I could see Kings' ownership being intrigued by. Derozen could be a good fit as a FA option as a starting 3. They also get picks and get rid of Belinellis contract

New Orleans gets rid of Asiks awful contract while getting to test 4 potential future bench pieces all while only giving up Anderson (who will likely leave in FA).

If I was Neil I would look at Boston got 8 draft picks in 2016 draft. Pick up there player with the big contract for draft picks.

Bones do you even realize how often there are trades that involve more than two teams? It's extremely rare.
