So in other words, C.J. is the savior to the team and there's no other direction to go in.

I got as far as seeing 'Steve Blake to POR' and I'm already sold! Make it happen! #BlazerLegendI'd like to get Brook Lopez here. He's the low post scorer we need.
BKN Gets: Brandon Jennings (DET), Meyers Leonard (POR), Al Farouq Aminu (POR), Future DET 1st, 2019 POR First, 2 Future 2nds
DET Gets: Gerald Henderson (POR), Mason Plumlee (POR), Jarett Jack (BKN)
POR Gets: Brook Lopez (BKN), Thad Young (BKN), Steve Blake (DET)

I would take a chance on him. He isn't getting much (if any) run on HOU.Looking at luxury tax teams, Houston currently about 2.5 into the tax.
KJ McDaniels makes 3.3 this year and next year. Team option for the 3rd year.
KJ and NYKs 2nd rounder owed to Houston for... nothing, essentially. A savings 6 or so million for Houston, and save another 3.3 next season
I'm mainly doing it with eye on the 2nd round pick, but yeah, he's worth a free flyer on, IMO. Kind of like harkless. No risk, small reward.I would take a chance on him. He isn't getting much (if any) run on HOU.

Brooklyn needs future assets and young pieces. Sheds $30M off their cap for next year.
DET upgrades their bench adding 3 rotation players.
Lillard / McCollum
Mccollum / Crabbe
Crabbe / Harkless
Vonleh / Young
Lopez / Davis
just for the lolsBlake?
IMO the Blazers should not trade Dame, CJ, or Crabbe. Continuity and cohesion matter, and that is shaping into a damn nice rotation.
Or.... trade all three!
I don't mind the trade for Lopez but I don't want Thad Young included, I'd try Meyers and Crabbe, 2nd rdr for Lopez.I got as far as seeing 'Steve Blake to POR' and I'm already sold! Make it happen! #BlazerLegend

12 million is doable though. He also is a pretty good low post player, if he proved to be healthy he would be a good bench asset or fringe starter. He is 30 though that's a major downside. That's 12 mil for 2 seasons after this, will the guy be able to play again? Gotta be a very nice pick
They have no cap issues and Pek has started playing again, so I can't see why they'd give up a good pick to get rid of Pek, if he plays well then he may have enough value to get traded for capspace this summer if they want to move him - his contract isn't horrible (given what we are seeing) at about 12 mil per the next two years after thisI don't know if it has been discussed, but would you guys take Pekovic and his contract if it meant we could get a pick from Minny?
The Nets would never buy that, and Thad Young would be the best forward on this fuckin team.I don't mind the trade for Lopez but I don't want Thad Young included, I'd try Meyers and Crabbe, 2nd rdr for Lopez.
We probably could get a 2nd from a team like the BucksNeil needs to get whatever he can for Meyers. I'll be the first to admit I drank the Legend Kool-Aid after his performance against the Grizzlies this past April, however, he has not taken the same leap that McCollum has this season.
I still believe has potential, but it's his RFA status that scares the living hell out of me. You know what would be worse than making the playoffs, getting swept by 20+ in four games, and sending our pick to Denver this offseason? Matching a toxic offer for Meyers this July.
He does one thing extremely well: Shooting off of the pick and pop. With that said, he doesn't rebound as well as he should given his height, length, and athleticism (only one game this season with 10+ rebounds). He's pretty slow on defense, which makes playing him as a "Stretch 4" difficult. And he can't score in any other way than off of a catch and shoot.
Look, I'm not trying to pile on this kid. I've defended him in the past when people wanted to label him a bust. But it's time to move on. Even with the salary cap booming this offseason, we can't tie our hands to a long, expensive deal to Meyers Leonard.
What can we get? I'd love to add a second 1st round pick this June. Maybe a team in the thick of a playoff race would move a lottery-protected 1st?

I'd love to trade him for the pick that would become Sabonis, but I really doubt we could get what would probably need to be a late teens pick for him.
My guess is that the only players that the Blazers have that would potentially net a lottery pick is Dame and CJ. Anyone else probably wouldn't sniff a first round pick. Maybe Crabbe would net a late first rounder.I think we should try to think a bit bigger. Is there a top 5 predicted lottery pick team (Sixers, Lakers, ETC) that would be willing to give that pick up for Leonard/Hendo/Alexander? Maybe one of them does have cap issues even with the impending increase and we can eat a contract as well?

As for teams trading with the Blazers to save money, here's a look at the CAP situation for all of the teams:

The tax amount a team has to pay depends upon how much they are over the tax level, and if they are a 'repeat offender' or not (Repeat Offender teams are: Nets, Lakers, Heat, and Knicks.). Here's a link to some info on paying the luxury tax.
My guess is that we'll probably be seeing some cost savings moves from those top 7-8 teams. Portland, Philly, and Utah look like they are the obvious candidates to trade with. How much are the tax paying teams willing to give up (future draft picks) to save money this year? I'd be surprised if they were willing to package a first round pick with a salary dump trade. Maybe a second rounder.
Here are some of the bigger contracts (non-starters) from the teams that are in the tax:
OKC - Enes Kanter, $16.4M (4 yrs)
HOU - Ty Lawson, $12.4M (1 yr)
GSW - Andre Iguodala, $11.7M (2 yrs)
LAC - Lance Stephenson, $9M (1 yr)
HOU - Corey Brewer, $8.2M (3 yr)
CHI - Taj Gibson, $8.5M (2 yr)
SAS - Boris Diaw, $7.5M (1 yr)
GSW - Jason Thompson, $6.9M (1 yr)
MIA - Josh McRoberts, $5.5M (3 yr)
GSW - Shaun Livingston, $5.5M (1 yr)
OKC - Dion Waiters, $5.1M (1 yr)
MIA - Chris Andersen, $5.0M (1 yr)
CHI - Mike Dunleavy, $4.5M (2 yrs)
SAS - Patty Mills, $3.6M (2 yrs)
HOU - KJ McDaniels, $3.2M (2 yrs)
HOU - Terrance Jones, $2.5M (1 yr)
HOU - Donatas Motiejunas, $2.3M (1 yr)
Lets see if any of these names ends up being traded over the next few weeks.
It would be so great if one of Neil's past victims, like OKC, did make Meyers a "toxic offer", and Olshey leaves them holding the bag.Neil needs to get whatever he can for Meyers. I like it andWhat would you think of:
CJ McCollum/Meyers Leonard to the Philadelphia 76'ers
........for.......
Nerlens Noel and Miam's 1st round Draft pick
Philly has the following 1st round picks this summer:
Philly has too many inside big men and 3-4 1st round picks coming this summer. They are VERY young, would like to unclog the middle from so many inside big men and want to actually start winning more games since Colangelo took over.
- Their own (currently slotted at #1)
- Lakers 1st round pick (Top 3 protected 2016 and 2017)
- Miami's 1st round pick (Top 10 protected.....currently slotted at #21)
- OKC's 1st round pick (Top 15 protected.....currently slotted at #28)
Meyers didn't sign an extension so he may get a toxic offer this summer anyhow and not be back. CJ has really blossomed but does much better when he plays with the ball and not off the ball. He has struggled since Dame came back going 39-117 (.333). CJ is much more comfortable when he has the ball in his hands, can dribble, create, dance, juke, and set up players more often and get his own rhythm. It was that way in the playoffs last year in his huge came against Memphis as Dame was so off, CJ basically took over playing PG and Dame played off the ball when they were in together.
I would like a pick higher that #21 but Philly isn't giving up their #1 pick for that even if Portland threw in it's 1st rounder (if they keep it) IMO. I would also ask for either Richaun Holmes or Robert Covington but that wasn't in the rumor.
What do you think.....as this rumored to at least being thrown about.

Yeah OKC would have no need for Meyers. It would be funny if someone did tender a toxic offer though. Just like Olshey did not offer to over pay Meyers this year, I don't see Olshey agreeing to overpay Meyers next year either just because someone tries to sucker him into a bidding war. Not after the way Leonard's weaknesses are being exposed. With them signing Kanter, I don't think they have a need for Meyers, but that would be over the top if they offered Leonard a max or something , thinking WE feel like we need to match because we DO have a need for PF and then we don't... and they are stuck with him? That would put NO in the history books man!
