8 of the 23 were taken with less than 5 seconds on the shot clock

4 were taken in/around the avg catch and shoot 1.4 seconds or less

15 were taken after dribbling.

That's the breakout. What else ya got?
It would be interesting to see a breakdown on what percentage he made on each of those three.

Plumlee is 8 for 23 on the season on jump shots. I can pull more if you'd like. But it appears that no amount of empirical evidence will sway you opinion so I'll just leave it at that.

I would love it all of a sudden Plums was the BasedGod of midrange. That would just be the bee's pajamas, but unfortunately hopes and prayers don't translate to the NBA all that often.

I'm not huge on Plumlee, hes terrible offensively which is a shame bc the dude works incredibly hard and has that classic ripcity fire we love as players. I think hes a perfect backup tho

My view on Plumlee's jumpshot is this:

If he has a reliable midrange jumper, he would probably be shooting it. He's pretty much wide open every single time on the pick and rolls with Dame and CJ and never takes it even though the defense gives it to him. Probably because he knows he is unlikely to make it.

Was going to say this. If Plumlee could make the shot, he'd take it.

Is it possible to teach someone how to shoot a 12 footer this late in their career? Even though his free throw percentage has improved from the start of the season, it's still painful to watch.

Obviously he's not going to improve his shooting stroke during the season, but the guy should be putting up 1000 mid range shots a day over the summer.

And yeah, if we had a better starting center, I'd love Plumlee coming off our bench.

at 26 it appears Tyreke Evans has been able to drastically increase his 3 pt percentage from a coach analyzing his mechanics and making changes - he's shooting almost 39% from 3 this year - way, way above his career avg

Plumlee's shooting form is all kinds of fucked up though. Even if he could consistently hit that shot, his release is so slow it wouldn't even do him much good.

I tend to think Plumlee pretty much is what he is, as a previous poster said a nice backup C

I could slice them up later this week and take a look. The McCollum piece, podcast, and subsequent requirements afterward are eating up most of my time right now. But I could look at it.

What I like about Plumlee is everything except his shooting stroke..in the video with the shot put brick, he does show great hands with the CJ no look pass and getting the Aminu tip..this and Plumlee isn't old. Robin Lopez didn't come into the league with a jump shot...he hired Hakeem to work on his post game. A great shooting coach could put Plumlee in the Lopez category...I watched Joel Freeland shoot in Spain, shoot well in practice with the Blazers and turn around and brick jumpers in NBA games...same with Claver....Wes said Claver was a way better shooter than fans were aware of. Plumlee will never dominate in the paint. He is however a hard working young guy with a lot of upside. I know Dan thinks he is what he is, but for young bigs..that can change with the right shooting coach or mentor.

He's a great passer and ball handler for his position and an above average pick n roll big and an average finisher at the rim. I don't understand where you get terrible from.

I would do CJ for the Greek Freak......... but not Monroe.
Im Not sure if I would do that.

But it's just hilarious. Not only do they want a 20ppg guy on a rookie deal in Cj, they ALSO want Plumlee on a rookie deal or ed Davis on a great deal for a good vet for Monroe who is a fine player, but is locked into a big deal for multiple years

And I don't even think Monroe is that much better than Cj alone, if at all

Did any of you see the top of the key jump shot Plums hit in the middle of the third quarter against Charlotte? The form was textbook. His 8-foot shot-put form, his free throw form, and his 18-foot jumpshot form are all completely different.

Idk if I'd even do CJ for Greek Freak. He is impressive but can he take the Kawhi level jump? I mean on paper the Bucks should be better than us yet they aren't. Idk if he is player that makes a team better.

Of all those guys out there- the young and freakishly talented (with size) the only one I trade CJ for is Wiggins.

I know he didn't show up the other night, if you look a his box scores and his numbers that was an aberration. The kid is some seriously raw talent. With that said he's still scoring 20 a night, with a coach who has no business being in the NBA right now. Speaking of 20... the guy is only 5 months younger than Vonleh. That's just nuts. But there is zero chance the 'Wolves give him up.

When I watch Wiggins play he reminds me a lot of derozan. He obviously has room to grow as he is so young.

Yeah I see that too, which is my tiniest bit of hesitancy. The one thing that Wiggins already has in spades though is defense. He's already a top tier defender, not on Kawhi's level but he's approaching the conversation where mentioning his name in the All-Defensive team isn't all that inconceivable.

When you pair that with an attacking player who still has all the potential, that's where I can justify it in my head.

Minny doesn't need CJ because they have LaVine.
if Lavine could knock down a J I would be more likely to agree but his jumper is...meh. Everywhere outside of 5 feet he shoots under 40%. If I'm Minny and I don't think he can develop a jumper- I package him up and ship him out before everyone realizes he's Rodney Stuckey.

If I'm them I'm offering Lavine and This year's 1st to Philly for Okafor. Okafor+Towns would be a match made in heaven.

Jesus-H... I didn't even think of that. That's not a huge stretch either- I think it would require one more tiny piece by Minny b/c the "potential" label on Okafor is still so high but Okafor-Town-Wiggins... that's.... that's just wow. I literally can't explain that.

Well done.
