People wanted him last summer too.
He (Harris) may be having a rough year in Orlando, but I think he'd be a perfect fit as a third option here.
I would have liked him last summer but not at the price he went for. Now he is owed the remainder of his $64M deal. He's having a decent season but it's amazing how little $15M/Yr guys anymore.
He would be a nice piece but where does he fit? He's kind of that 'tweener' SF/PF and we already have 2 of those.
Remember, with the coming cap increase, $15M in 2 years will be comparable to $10M now.
Sure we do, but neither compares to Harris in terms of overall ability. With the team as currently constructed, I'd start him over Vonleh at 4, and slide Vonleh to the backup 4 alongside Davis (with Leonard hopefully in Orlando as part of the trade).

I wonder if New York would do Melo for CJ/Leonard/Kaman, and then try to acquire Collison from Sac to be the backup point.

The reason why the magic suck despite all their youth, talent and athleticism is actually pretty simple. They don't have a go to scorer that can take over a game, and they don't have low post defense. Every player on that team is a role player to some degree on a contender.
And yes, sign me up for Tobias Harris.
CJ has youth on his side, Melo is arguably the most versatile scorer in the NBA.CJ for Melo?? That seriously under values CJ. Guy is third year and probably on par with that dunce.
If the goal is to clear his salary, we are one of the few teams that can make it happen. Either by absorbing the entire thing, or by sending expiring deals.
As much as I like the idea of having a player like Monroe who can score in the post, I'm not sure he's the player we need. I mean, isn't he basically Al Jefferson? He can get points in the paint, but he might drag us down in other areas. Does he make his teammates any better on either end? I'm not convinced that he does. He just has a good post scoring game. We need someone who can be a threat on the block, but I don't think it's worth what we'd have to give up to get him.
yup you nailed it. thats exactly what it is, they dont have that go to all nba player
I'd take was... I mean I guess you could try to argue that he is, but I wouldn't buy it. Higher usage than CJ but scores less than 1 ppg more.CJ has youth on his side, Melo is arguably the most versatile scorer in the NBA.
If this were 3 years ago, I'd be all for Melo for CJ. Melo has the 3, midrange, post and ISO game. CJ is great combo guard, but he doesn't have the offensive prowess Melo does.I'd take was... CJ on the other hand is one of the most versatile scorers in the league. If not for his below average inside production I would argue that he is the best. He's young though, so he has time to improve in that regard. Melo isn't going anywhere but down at this point in his career.
What happened to Jabari Parker? Wasn't he supposed to be a star? It's Milwaukee, nobody will want to go there unless there's some big name players there, and Monroe is the biggest name they have. They just got lucky and signed a big name free agent so why would they sell him off hoping to get lucky again, but with a below .500 tem instead of one coming off a year in which they were a 6 seed
He tore his ACL his rookie year, it's been a rough ride for him so far. What happened to Jabari Parker? Wasn't he supposed to be a star?

I think small forward is the position of need, or a REALLY good power forward. Harris is good, but not great. I guess it just depends on the cost.
It still depends greatly on the goals of the team. Are we trying to make the playoffs or are we biding our time and letting the team gel? If we're making a push for the playoffs, I wouldn't be opposed to trading for a veteran forward who can score.

Plus his wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios. So he has that going for him.I would love Melo on our team. So many people diss him that he is actually underrated in my opinion. I want to keep CJ but if I was forced to trade CJ, I would definitely chose Melo. Remember- Melo went to WCF in 2009. He won in college too. Totally underrated nowadays.

No coaching stability since Van Gundy left....Skyles will grate on the young guys in another season..not exactly a players coachAmazing that they can't figure out a way to make that group work. Payton/Oladipo/Fournier/Harris/Gordon/Vucevic sounds like a great young core. Balanced group, and Vucevic is the oldest of the bunch at 25. Plus they have Hezonia and Napier who both seem to have potential as well, in addition to being on track to get another lottery pick this year. Maybe I'm missing something, but if I were them, Harris wouldn't be going anywhere until they were certain it couldn't work with him and Gordon at the forward spots. Deal Channing Frye to a contender who can give you another asset--maybe a tough defensive PF/C--and keep building.
this is a 2 parter- 1 it shows how awful his post footwork is. 2 it shows how comfortable/confident he is taking a jumper over a guy 6'8"
