If we're using our capspace to relieve these teams of $ in luxury tax, we better be getting some compensation in picks.

BK has no picks to incentivize taking on that contract.

What assets do the Nets have to give enticing us to eat that contract? I'd rather stand pat (even though I know it's expiring).
That is an ending contract. Getting JJ IS standing pat. Probably get 2nd rounders?

But, I'd prefer Rondae + JJ for Kaman and Hendo.

Yeah, I don't see them giving Rondae back to us.

A 2nd rounder and Joe Johnson is better than a 1st rounder and David Lee if trying to advance in the playoffs is your goal. Hard to say what is the goal until after Thursday though.
I think Lee would be a servicable backup 4 for when we need some down low buckets, JJ IS better though as you said, we would have a log jam at 2-3 however.

yea unless we are getting RHJ back I don't know I'm interested in ANOTHER trade with the nets

Not a ton to like on BKN's roster, but taking JJ could be part of a 3-way where we get a more appealing young player and/or pick from another team perhaps? Hopefully if this deal has legs it's about more than JUST JJ...

Is there any way around us not being able to deal a 1st round pick until after the draft? Is that even true? Could we just do "future considerations" or a pick swap? I'm asking because Zack Lowe mentioned Milwaukee might part with Greg Monroe for a 1st, and he also mentioned Portland's interest.

We can trade a 2019-21 first or pick swap in 2018.

I put this in the other thread, but doesn't Cleveland want Joe Johnson. He has a huge contract we could absorb for Cleveland or other teams, then we could move him on to a contender for picks? Or maybe Mozgov since we need a rim protector?

Perhaps they do, but try to find a deal on trade machine that brings JJ into Cleveland without sacrificing pieces that would be crucial for any title run they might attempt in the next 3 years. There aren't many options, that what options there are are unattractive.

You definitely have the only 3 that the Cavs would even entertain trading. The Nets would just let JJ expire rather than bringing on a contract that has 3 more years though.

Does Varejao just suck now? He doesn't seem to get time....

Maybe we give Brooklyn Hendo and Meyers but get RHJ along with JJ. Neil loves having players on rookie contracts.

Idk if I'm late on this but Dwight might go to the Hornets?

I like Thad, but he makes too much for the number to work along with Iso Joe.
I believe they could split them up into two trades.

So one trade is kaman for jj and picks.

Second trade is Henderson, Leonard, harkless for rhj and Thad young.

That'd be awesome. Too bad Billy King isn't GM anymore.

BTW that Sports Whisperers Twitter page is bogus.
