Come on Riverman I said "big" signing? While I think these were good value signings for rotation players I am talking about a REAL difference maker, a clear star, tell me when and who. It does not happen often.
I'm not someone who thinks the past necessarily defines the future or we'd have been the Jail Blazers forever

Who was the last real difference maker, clear star that even changed teams? Who was the last big star chicago signed? Biggest star NY has landed recently was an overpay for a broken amare. Lakers couldn't keep Dwight, didn't land lebron, Durant, etc. Who's the last big star they signed?

We have a new team, culture and identity forming here and I just don't get the "poor us" feeling that we're somehow always a team in the dumpster. Here's a question for the nostalgia folks around here...who's the last Blazer that demanded to be traded?

read your post....last free agent signing...not a big to be found..I'm not someone who thinks the past necessarily defines the future or we'd have been the Jail Blazers forever
I said "big FA signing", what did you think I meant? I meant a star player, maybe not top 10 in the league but perhaps someone in the next tier. Probably the best FA signing (that played with the team) in the LAST TWENTY YEARS is Brian Grant, I love Brian but even he was not a real star or Top NBA player. We have a problem in getting star players to come here in FA, if you don't agree with that fine, but the evidence is there.

any reason to think that? and I have my doubts he is worth the max which I think will start at 22-23 mil per give or take a bit, and he is an RFA and not a UFA, seems improbable ot me

Harrison Barnes isn't even as good as Tobias Harris. Who the hell is paying him the max? Oh wait, Orlando.

that is not what is being discussed, it's whether top players WANT to come here if the pay is the same? I hope it changes but it is not yet reality - do you really not see that?

Am I being discussion blocked here? Who's making these rules of conversation anyway..this thread is about the Trade deadline if you want to talk topic content

No you are changing the subject because you can't support your position, it's all good so lets move on

Our ONLY hope is that some free agents see us getting to the cusp of a championship. Unless we fortify this roster, I don't see us appealing to any top-tier players. Neil need to get us into the conversation for WCF or we are no more appealing than Utah.

BS...Dame did not have to sign a max deal without opt out clauses..he could have walked...do you really not see that? He's a star...

But but but, Kevin Durant is gonna sign with us because we are so awesome

bullshit....I form opinions and you are basically saying they are of no value...adding to a conversation is moving on unless you just want to ignore my posts

Ummmmm.... Players don't leave after their rookie contract
Dame showed loyalty and proved it...and sorry but players do change teams after their rookie contract is up...Joel Freeland and Victor Claver just did that..now whether you like them or not is a choice...but they got paid and left the team

whatever, we were talking FREE FRIGGIN AGENTS, but you just won't see that, good riddance, hard to have a common sense discussion with a total friggin homer with blinders on

Yep, I am sayin your opinions are total crap

Um, didn't they walk since they didn't get offers from the Blazers? Neither would be considered a top free agent. Neither plays in the NBA anymore.

And I'm saying you're opinion is paranoid victimized apathy and you are living in the past trying to support some, history repeats itself babble...over and over and over...it's a new Blazer era...you don't value that...fine..you think my opinions are crap you should go back and unlike all the ones you've liked..please do

Star players drafted in the first round don't. They have four years with the team, then are restricted. They have to take substantially less money in year 5 to become unrestricted. Star players leave after the second contract (lamarcus :))

Stotts system which gives players freedom, his relationship with Lillard, and culture fit Olshey is prioritizing. Would not be surprised one bit if he's the main target and Olshey offers him the max. Don't see GS matching that at all.

They most certainly will match; infact Golden State will welcome us signing him to a max deal because it will be less than the max they would have to pay if they sign him themselves. It's the same as trying to chase Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Andre Drummond in free agency. Zero chance their teams give away an asset they can keep.

Even if they don't want Barnes at that price long term they'll just match and trade him to one of the dozen under the cap teams a few months later for a pick. Luxury taxes aren't calculated until almost a year later after the playoffs.

I edited that as soon as I posted it...if you notice..I reread your post and you did say big free agent...one might say Aminu and Davis are big...depends on how you define big...but I changed it within seconds of posting it

Their agents got them paid more than we would offer...but we don't know the details...they were rookies who got paid elsewhere after their first contract was up..rookies do move.
Yeah, if the team doesbt want them anymore. Freeland was not on a rookie deal, we signed him to a three year deal not on the rookie scale because it had been too longfrom when we drafted him.

And we traded claver. He did not walk away from us.

Every team has trouble getting those star players to sign. The Lakers haven't signed one in the twenty years since Shaq.

Way to bring the personal insults....lot of common sense in that eh? Keep it up....for your info...I'm not a free agent.
