Delly is a perfect example of a guy you hate on other teams but would love on yours. I don't think we have a large enough role for him here though.

I donno man, some of the shit he pulls is total shit, I cant back dirty plays no matter who's team its for/against

Ideally for the cavs, they negotiate a buyout with Verajao and I think they can stretch provision him. It could save them 10s of $millions without giving up anything.

What's a few draft picks, 1sts, worth to them?

I wonder what else the Bulls want besides Leonard for Gasol.

Leonard may be asking for too big a payday, and Gasol has a player option. Similar risk for both teams.

I don’t see any trade that works with the Cavs that involves us taking on Varejao.

They do not have any draft picks until the next decade, and not one good young prospect on a contract past this season. The Cavs really emptied their asset closet to get Love.

Gasol is mentioned in this OLive article:

The latest from Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical is that the Chicago Bulls are aggressively shopping veteran big man Pau Gasol. The 35-year-old center has a player option and is likely to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, so Chicago would like to get some value out of him on the trade market before he leaves the Bulls this summer. Would he be a good fit on the Blazers who could use a consistent frontcourt scorer? Like many of the possible trade scenarios for Portland, the question is whether or not they have the assets to entice Chicago into a deal, and whether giving up a player or two would be worth a short rental if Gasol does indeed opt out at the end of the season.

- Zach Lowe of ESPN thinks Meyers Leonard could be on the move by Thursday's trade deadline due to his restricted free agent contract status.

My take is if we're not going to re-sign Leonard, we at least have some chance to re-sign Gasol. Maybe Gasol doesn't even exercise his PO. He's certainly going to make less than Leonard.

Leonard went to school at UofI(llinois). Maybe he's something of a hometown boy there. Straight up, it's not a great deal for the Bulls. However, the financial considerations are it gets the Bulls under the LT.

Leonard surely fits into Fred Hoiberg's offensive system better than Gasol. Gasol is effectively Aldridge without the D. He's got a really good assortment of mid-range and inside shots. He might not play so well next to Plumlee.

wonder if we could reroute Gasol to a team like OKC - he could be a big help in a championship run, I'd ask for Steven adams back and an expiring if they have one

No way would I trade meyers for pau gasol.
whaaaaat? pau gasol is everything we wish mason plumley and meyers lenoard COMBINED could ever become RIGHT NOW! and will be for at least the next 2-3 years Allowing us to groom Vonleh and have an (all be it aging) all-star caliber player at the same time! Come on you gotta make that move

Woj says Cavs are looking to unload Varejao's 2yr 19 mil contract on either POR or PHL so that they can get Frye with a trade exception. We would be compensated with draft picks and cash.

I want no part of a two year deal.

Agreed.

To get an idea why the Cavs are trying to move Varejao, he makes $9.6M this season. The Cavs team salary is at $109,270,293. They are over the tax line by $24,530,293. Their Luxury Tax bill is currently $61,988,599. If they could find a way to eliminate Varejao's $9.6M, that would result in a total savings of over $43M for the Cavs. They certainly have some financial incentive to trim where they can.

I posted this earlier, but here's a breakdown of all of the teams and their current CAP Space / Luxury Tax situation:

Didn't Neil do the exact same thing last year with Cleveland?

Taking on/waiving Haywood did absolutely nothing for this team.

Please move Meyers before the trade deadline. I don't want to lose him for nothing and I don't want to shell out a ton of money on a contract for him this summer.

I find it hard for them to get anyone to take varejaos deal with such crappy assets. But, Kevin love would gladly be taken off their hands :)

What did we get out of that? Cash? No picks? At least his deal was expiring. Varejao still is owed money next year. No need for that.

Cavs are in luxury tax hell...They have a decision to make with KLove the way it looks..62million now in luxury tax...

The Blazers received 2 second round picks (The more valuable of the two second round picks between Minnesota and the L.A. Lakers in 2019, and Cleveland’s second round pick in 2020.) from the Cavs for Miller and Haywood.
