If there has to be an odd man out in the group. Why not Nic?

What do you think his trade value is?
Our offense relies on Nic A LOT. Trade him and kiss goodbye all of Rolo's offensive production. Defenses will key-in on Lillard even more and then our offense goes to shit.
Even if Nic isn't taking a lot of shots, our offense needs him.

I'm not at all, just trying to please the people who seem to think we need a major overhaul to take the next step.
Continuity matters. Incremental improvements are fine by me at this stage.

You are correct, Sir!

Yup. Nic is basically our backup point guard.

Honestly if it were just me....

Starting unit leave as is.

Bench:
Marvin Williams (MLE)
Thomas Robinson
Will Barton/CJ (Fight for it boys!)
Steve Blake (BAE)

Hang on to Meyers for remainder of Rookie deal (Doesn't hurt to have him as 15th guy on bench)

Remaining players (Wright, Claver, Freeland and Crabbe) Can be used to try and make a trade for perhaps Spencer Hawes. I would prefer to hang on to Freeland though, and I would be fine not trading those guys but if I could get a small upgrade fro Wright and Crabbe I would do so.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Blakey back, but if I was Steve I would have to be nuts to sign with a team that has already traded me twice.

Keep the starting unit intact.

Bring in:

Toney Douglas (BAE)
Danny Granger (MLE)
Nazr Mohammed (vet min)

Trade Wright, Freeland and Crabbe for Frye.

Dame / Douglas
Wes / Barton / McCollum
Batum / Granger / Claver
LA / T-Rob / Leonard
Lopez / Frye / Mohammed

It's not sexy but we bring in a mix of defense and scoring off the bench.

Oddly enough he had one of the better DRtg for bench players. Im not sure how much of that was a product of playing for the Bulls but at the very least he has been shown HOW to play defense

He has the 83rd best DRtg of all time lol it's weird but the guy knows how to play defense, so I'm guessing he can teach it too.

If I'm trading for a center, I'm going after Noah first. He's a better version of Lopez, except maybe in the category of quirky charm. Send Batum and Lopez to Chicago and fill the rest with whatever you have to do to make it work.

I think breaking up the starting unit has a huge chance of backfiring. If we brought back the identical roster I think we'd have a chance of winning a couple playoff series so I wouldn't trade a starter unless there was an enormous upgrade.

A quiet off-season such as AK47, Jermaine Oneal and Steve Blake would be fine with me.

No offense, but that sounds horrible.

He is better than Lopez, but he is not that much better. Centers are no longer worth high draft picks or lopsided trades. Look at the 4 teams left and who their starting centers are. I would rather have multiple serviceable centers and focus on the other positions that win you close games.

If this team makes it to the WCF the improvement will come from one of our current starters making a big improvement in their game or a young bench player becoming an above average rotational player. That would also qualify as a huge improvement from last year.

So I think any additions or changes to the roster should be suttle, and not be a hinderence to that internal growth. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.

Duncan, Bosh and Hibbert are more than serviceable.

Not that I disagree with your point about passing on a Noah deal.

Disagree. Noah is much better than Lopez, and I like Lopez. Noah is well beyond Lopez in defending the pick and roll. He upgrades the defense significantly. He also is the best passing big in the game right now. The Blazers would be significantly better with Noah than Batum and/or Lopez. It's easier to find a 3 than can be comparable to Batum (at less of a price) than it is to find a center that does what Noah does.

Also, as much as we like Robin, fact is this was his best year. Noah's been doing this for several years. Lopez might have thrived in the system. Noah, being a similar player, might work even better with the Blazers in that role.

I'd rather keep Batum than Noah. They are both ranked about the same at their position but better to stick with the player that we know works in our systrm. I wouldnt trade Noah for Batum if I'm Chicago either. One of those deals that hurts both teams.

Adding Lopez might get Chicago to bite but that's way too much for the Blazers to give up.

Yeah but that is kind of my point, Duncan and Bosh aren't really centers. Teams are successful now playing PF's in the middle.

Hibbert is a true center but he struggled against teams that went small and spread the floor. My point is......don't give up too much for a true center, and definitely don't take one #1 when you have great wing/pg players available. Centers are lower on the totem pole than players who dominate a game.

Get me someone like Splitter who many bashed last year after the finals.

Any thoughts about trying to get Varejao? I doubt Cleveland wants to pick up his $9.8M option.

You'd have to get back more than just Noah to make the deal work. Possibly Dunleavy or Dunleavy and Jimmy Butler.

And i know it's a different offense, but i would feel very meh with the idea of bringing Blankey back.

Would rather try out Ridnour.

But it's an out-of-this-world improvement from where he used to be.

He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in Portland.

that's saying it lightly, but muscle memory doesn't mean you're going to be able to shoot from 24.9ft @ a decent clip if you can shoot from 20ft at a good clip.
Not saying it can't happen. But there have been many players at all levels of basketball that can shoot mid range jumpers, and still fail @ shooting the 3.

Having both Sideshow Bob's would be hilarious.
Maybe they can get dreads
