I bet Deng gets an offer bigger than MLE from the Lakers, and other teams as well.

He'd have to want to come to the Blazers, and the Blazers would have to acquire him via S&T. Who goes to match his salary?

Only have to be within 2/3 of the incoming. CJ/MyLe/DW1 combine for 7.5M; that's more than enough to match anything he'll be offered. If he wants to come here, Olshey can make it happen.

Cleveland has to want those guys in return. Neil is great, but he can't make them want those guys ;)

Why wouldn't they want two high-upside recent lottery picks and a $3M expiring contract in exchange for a player they'd otherwise lose for nothing? It's called asset acquisition, and it's what rebuilding franchises do.

Deng would be nice, but honestly I think I like Ariza better.

Either way, if you bring in Deng or Ariza, you probably have to move Matthews to open up a spot in the starting lineup.

If they let Deng walk, they get to choose how they spend their cap space. Maybe they want to use the space to make an offer to Deshawn Stephenson instead (for example).

Why would anyone want to make an offer to Deshawn Stevenson?

After July 1st we can package two future firsts in any deal. So offer them Cj, Leonard, wright and a first. I'm sure they would consider it

Just wanted to say deng would be awesome. I'd trade cj/Leonard and wright no problem. The defensive possibilities with deng and batum on the wings...

Deng could make up for Batum's defense

Ariza will likely want to resign with Washington. I have a hard time believing Cleveland has any chance to sign Deng.

Also in a S&T with Cleveland, they don't have to necessarily be the team taking the players. Portland could find a 3rd team to trade players to.

Move him where? To the bench? No problem, he can still get his minutes.

I would trade him. Either Wes or Nic. If you bring in Deng, one or the other has to go. I don't see Wes on the bench honestly.

If Cleveland doesn't screw up the draft (again) I think Orlando is a lock to land Dante Exum.

IMO Dante makes Oladipo at least a little more attainable. Both can handle the ball in spurts but their best position is clearly SG.

Really? I thought Exum was being touted as a PG all the way.

Either way, does it matter? Why wouldn't you want to have two SG sized guards with PG skills? I see no reason why Exum and Oladipo wouldn't be able to play together. If anything, it would make Afflalo more available.

We'd probably have to give up a draft pick to acquire Deng in a sign and trade. Would Neil want to committ that much money for extended years to a player who's play probably starts to decline? With his poor 3pt shooting is Deng the right fit?

I assume Denny meant the other Stevenson, Lance.

Well I'd make a run at Pau before Deng. But I really expect us to have smaller contracts or one year deals I don't think Neil wants to tie up our salary cap until we've locked up our core next summer.

In spurts LOL you clearly have not watched any of Exum's game film he is an amazing ball handler and would like challenge Lebron for the fastest player in the NBA. He is also a very gifted passer the only reason he is even being considered a 2 guard is nba scouts and executives automatically put a player of a certain size at a given position.

At 6'6" he is a big point guard but so was Magic and that worked out just fine.

Exum + Oladipo has the Potential to be one of the most dynamic backcourts in the NBA.... For a long time.

Boris Diaw was drafted by the Hawks as a Point Guard @ 6"9

Wes strikes me as a team guy. Give him Mo level minutes off the bench at SG and SF and he'll leave it all on the court. He won't complain if it helps us contend. It will also lessen some of the wear and tear on his body. You need a Wes quality player on your bench in case of injuries.

Wes has shown in the past he is not a good player coming off the bench.

I would bring this guy back if he does not get a head coaching gig.

Marc J. Spears: While Lionel Hollins is getting head coach interest from LAL, CLE, UTH & MIN, sources say GS & HOU interested in him as associate head coach Twitter @SpearsNBAYahoo - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.zQJiO6KE.dpuf

If I'm the GM:
I keep everyone that's under contract. See if I can bring Mo back without losing an exception. Add a preferably-big Pass-first PG (yes, even if we re-sign Mo). Send at least CJ, Leonard, Crabbe to Summer league. See if I can find someone underappreciated with the low exception. Someone like Lou Williams or James Johnson.

The thing that works for us in re-signing Mo is we can give him a mid-level salary using early-bird rights after next year if he re-signs with us. Unless he gets the big exception from some team we're probably his smartest choice financially.
