OK, I'll elaborate.
You sign him, you don't even need to keep Batum. You move Wesley to SF and you have a solid team all-around with Mayo starting at SG.

Lillard/Smith
Mayo/Williams/Barton
Mathewss/Claver/Babitt
JJ Hickson/Freeland
Aldridge/Leonard

Don't hate the idea. Don't love it, but don't hate it.

Lillard, Mayo, Matthews, Hickson, Aldridge is a starting lineup that will allow 110 points a game

Sure would like to know how good Williams and Barton are. Mayo is not bad, but I am not sure he has shown anything more than what I think Elliot can be. '

I wonder if his agent is blowing smoke saying the Lakers, Bulls Suns and Mavs are all interested.
As I recall he chose to go to SC for college because of the city. And that was when he was 18.

That it's a terrible defensive lineup.. Thought that was obvious.

I am not so sure. Mayo himself is considered a good defender. It is is jump shot that is inconsistent.

Lillard looks like he can play D. Wes is decent and LA is decent. JJ would need to improve. But overall I would say it would be an average defense line up.

I don't think Wes or LaMarcus would be decent at defense playing out of position. Lillard does look like he can play D, but he likely won't be that good at it as a rookie. JJ is pretty bad at defense and Mayo isn't superb. Add all that together I think it's a pretty bad defensive lineup.

I'd stay away from Mayo.

He is a guy who needs a lot of shots to be effective, and I can think of about 50 players I'd rather have taking 14-16 shots per game for me than Mayo.

Like he showed last year, he can't handle running the point either. He's a terrible decision maker, a marginal athlete, and is probably the most selfish player I've seen on the Grizzlies since Chucky Atkins was running around out there pretending he was Allen Iverson.

Not to mention, given this year's free agency market, he's likely going to get overpaid.

Besides, wouldn't bringing in Mayo be a little redundant with Matthews in the lineup?

Stick around here voodoo. I like your takes. Plus this board needs another Saints fan :)
