Okay Neil, it's time to stop and assess

So it seems like we're pretty stacked at every position.

Lillard/CJ/Watson
Matthews/Crabbe/Barton
Batum/Wright
Aldridge/Robinson/Claver
Lopez/Leonard/Freeland

There are some things we need to assess over summer league.

CJ McCollum - Can CJ play the point? Is he ready to contribute now? Is he big enough to play shooting guard?

Meyers Leonard - how much has he improved? Is he ready to make a jump next season or can we expect more of the same raw, unfinished talent? Has he developed his defense at all?

Thomas Robinson - how much of a project is this guy? How many minutes a night should we be giving him? Will we see Robinson and Aldridge on the floor at the same time next season?

Neil has added some very nice supporting pieces in Watson, Wright, and Lopez, plus some very intriguing young talent in CJ, TRob and even Crabbe. I don't think we should be making any more moves unless it's something that's simply too good to pass up.

If the Aldridge thing needs to be dealt with, so be it. If an offer comes along that knocks their socks off, great. But if the plan is to keep LMA going into next season, I think we should probably sit on our hands a bit for the next month and see how things progress.

I wouldn't mind having one more serviceable center.

Lopez and Leonard are legit centers, but Freeland is much more of a power forward, and if either Lopez or Leonard gets hurt (unfortunately something that happens a lot with big men, especially in Portland), then I'm not crazy about relying on Robinson, Aldridge, or Freeland, to take the backup center minutes.

Funny, after the stack of bench issues the Blazers had last season, I'm shocked that this is the only contingency I think is still in need of addressing. Olshey has done a remarkable job.

If it came down to it, I'd rather see Robinson get the extra minutes if someone were to get injured. I don't think it would kill Aldridge to spend some time with Robinson on the court together.
