Okay Turner is awful.

At least he's new and learning the plays and players. What is Crabbe's excuse? 17 mil each.

They're both SFs. Our coach tries to use them out of position as 2nd guards and it doesn't work

We are in a 3-way tie for 10th-best team in the NBA. We are 7th in the West. Is this really good enough? Should Olshey keep his job?

Minnesota, of all people, is tied for 2nd in the West. Embarrassing.

He had an off day yesterday but to write a player off after average preseason, in which he also had very good games, would be silly.

What am I waiting to see? I didn't get a clue tonight. Of course, I have only seen one game. How much is this guy getting paid?
Doesn't sound like you've a "clue" at all. You've only seen 1 game... a pre-season game; what you've witnessed is an organized practice vs. guys other than our own. Clam the fuck down, you & ks; give the guy a chance he'll be fine.

I'm dubbing him Evan Turnover
Just to be clear, I had to recognize/"like" your brilliance on this 1; greatness can't go unrecoginized!

ps I am an Evan supporter but... your post was too awesome not to like Mr. River!:rotfl:

Is there really much difference between a SF and a SG in our offensive system? They are both wing positions. On defense there is often a difference depending on who you have to cover, but I think you will agree that ET can cover SG's. too So I guess I don't see what the big deal is. They are basically the same position.

My guess is you prefer him in the game with two other ball handlers, thus he is the "SF" in that scenario. But wouldn't that force him into the corner? I can see how that would be better for Crabbe as he is more of a 3 and D guy, but if you do that to ET, you are making things worse.

The best scenario for using him is having him surrounded by 2 shooters. (i.e Dame/Cj and Crabbe) We need his defense, rebounding and ball handling with that group. Regardless of whether or not you call him a SG or SF.

so i take it we lost?

Came out on strong, great ball movement and defense. 16 pt lead at one point. But when you're playing the warriors that can be gone in an instant. Shit the bed to start the third quarter and the rest was history.

Terry's first timeout speech: Guys you're doing great. More movement and continue to take the open shots.

Second: Alright guys we've seen what we can do. Less movement and hesitate when you get open shots.

Halftime: Good job toning it back, I want you to come out in the third and stop moving, don't take any open shots.

No problem guys, everything went according to plan.

What do we do? Yes, he can make a pass here or a steal there but his shot is BROKE. I never want to see him shoot again. Could we trade him back to Boston? Who would they give us for him?

I hope this season, this gets brought up as frequently as the "bet" did last year.

We will see a different Turner come Tuesday

Tuner played SG in BOS and was effective. According to 82games.com, he is equally effective at both ends of the floor playing both SG and SF. Crabbe is not. He struggles to guard SGs, but guards SFs just fine.

The key is who they play with. Turner needs at least two good shooters on the floor with him, three is ideal (which is probably why they resigned Meyers Leonard).

As I mentioned in a different thread, in Stotts' system it makes a lot of sense to play Crabbe at the 2 on offense (he's most effective in the catch and shoot roll), with Turner in the point forward roll (ala Nic Batum), but then mix it up on the other end with Crabbe guarding the SF and Turner the SG.

Pairing Turner with Crabbe and one of Dame/C.J. gives him two shooters to work with. Ideally, we need at least one more shooter at the 4/5 to make this lineup most effective. That means we either need Meyers on the floor, or Aminu knocking down open 3s. In a perfect world, Noah Vonleh will continue to develop a reliable jump shot. That way we can use him at the 4 with Tuner/Crabbe and not sacrifice defense or rebounding.

just think that between Turner-Crabbe-CJ we have over a 1/4 of a BILLION DOLLARS tied up - holy shit!

True if they keep them for the life of their contract.

Just think, between ESPN and TNT....... the owner's pocket 24 billion dollars over the life of their contract.

You are correct. There is very little difference between the two positions. People who act like there is a ton of difference don't know what the hell they are talking about (which is most of this forum).

Jeez. For that much money I'd expect them "to be able to leap tall buildings with a single bound and be faster than a speedy locomotive!"

Cue John Williams musc.....

Maybe since you're so smart and the rest of us numskulls don't know what we're talking about we should stop posting and just read your posts.

Oh God not a Batum. Tell me he isn't going to pull a Batum.

Remember how scared i was in January at the prospect of us bringing Batum back?
Well, as soon as i saw Turner to the Blazers i got a hankering for some sexy Nico again.

Damn, it's like we had an ugly ex girlfriend yet we miss her cause the current one is uglier.:klingon:
