I hate to break up everybody's should he stay or should he go fun, but I just ran across this and was wondering if it were true? I have been following them since '76-'77 season, but for some reason I have never heard this one before. I figured it is a good time to take a break from rosterbation.

The Blazers offered the 2nd pick & Clyde Drexler to the Rockets (they had the 1st pick) for Ralph Sampson.

Not sure about this one…. But I wish we had traded for Barkley.

That sounds familiar. Makes you feel better about taking Sam Bowie, huh?

Ya I have never understood why we turned that down. I have never heard the true trade offer, but outside of dealing Clyde in that deal, why not go for it?

Clyde hated Charles. When Charles joined the Rockets, that was the end of Clyde in Houston.

One of the dumbest non moves ever. Barkley even paid his way to Portland to help facilitate a deal, or something to that effect. Dame brought a check from the Blazers before a game to Charles ,on the set, a number of years ago.

Everything makes me feel better than taking Sam I am. I met him once in '85. Seemed nice enough. Quiet, but friendly. I just have the belief in staying away from extra tall people with leg/foot problems. Even before he came aboard.

I didn't realize that, but I am starting to remember something about Clyde not liking him on the Dream Team. Too bad. Thanks Clyde. I loved/love Barkley.

Back then, more players hated each other, because there wasn't as much movement from team to team.

Met Bowie once. He came to a practice when UCD was coaching my brother’s basketball team. Steve Johnson’s kid was on the team and the Nets were in town. Nice guy. Definitely quiet/reserved (or he didn’t want to talk to an energetic 3rd/4th grader).

I agree they were not as buddy-buddy with each other, but to hate to the point of not wanting someone of his talent on the team? That is just a bitch move.

Yes that was exactly like my experience accept I was an energetic high school senior...lol.

that and that there were a half dozen hard fouls a game...as in real hard. That won't make friends

I remember when Maurice Lucas said something to the effect of "when I played the fine was $75 for punching somebody, so why not!"

Houston would have had:

Hakeem/Clyde/Jordan

or

Hakeem/Clyde Barkley

Crazy to think.
