Olshey Accelerated Rebuild Due To Portland's Intense Devotion To Blazers

If posters are gong to get upset with MM's opinion about the Blazers there could be a lot of aggravation between now and all-star break. I mean think about it . . .MM has stated he is unwilling to change his preseason analysis of the Blazers until the all-star break. That means the Blazers could literally be 46-3, and he still will feel the Blazers are average. Why argue with someone who would take that position.

If one really cares about MM's opinion about the Blazers, best just to wait till after all star break.

The seriousness of how Portland treats the Trail Blazers forced Neil Olshey to accelerate his approach in rebuilding the roster. The Blazers are now 16-3 with the best record in the Western Conference.

"It caught me off guard," Olshey said. "Listen, I had been in this building as a front-office executive, a coach, and I knew how much it meant inside this building with the fans. But how much the identity of this city is wrapped up in the Blazers. It's so important that this team performs well – and does it with the right kind of guys. It's not just winning, but how we win, how we lose, how guys play, how guys treat the fans.

"And you know, that's what accelerated it for me. It would be great to come in with a three-to-five-year plan, slowly rebuild, but about five minutes after I got here, I realized: We're going to have to pick the pace up on this."

I could be wrong but I thought it also might have something to do with Paul's health? The whole city of Portland knows there is nothing that Paul Allen wants more than a Blazers championship.

Yeah. I think this article plays up a nice sentiment, but really Olshey's boss sets the tone and expectations. Paul had no interest in a lengthy rebuild again and Olshey accommodated him.

I used to post that Olshey thinks like a Clipper, meaning, lose annually and get a top pick. During a Summer League interview (or was it the press conference introducing new players when he said that last season's bad bench was by his design, not his incompetence) Olshey said that he veered from the Clipper strategy this summer because he has an owner who doesn't want to wait. Now he acts as if it was his decision.

That's usually how it works. The mouth piece gets the credit. I think Olshey is competent, perhaps even Exec of the Year, but I won't give him more credit than Allen. Watching Allen sit at games and cheer on this Blazer team makes me happy. I think he's found the right chemistry on all levels (save for the awkward McGowan guy and his McPromotions, Mo-duh changes, and taste in music).

Now that Olshey's doing so well...when do we start picking on this McGowan guy?

Saturday night, I put a Wendy's dollar chicken sandwich into the freezer and ate it Wednesday night during the Thunder game. That made us win.

I've done this often enough to know to eat the lettuce Saturday night because 4 days later, frozen lettuce is toast.

Okay McGowan, why didn't you pick Wendy's??!!!!???!!!!
