Olshey interview with Jaynes

For the love of basketball. The point isn't TT. It's getting rid of Evan Turner and thus finding time for these shooters we've acquired.

(Although TT is no slouch. I mean, he's better than Ed Davis and no one wanted to see Ed go...)

Curry and Stauskas will get minutes. Baldwin will get some. The other guys are rookies and will likely have to wait. If there’s a deal for ET that improves the team, great, but I’m not a fan of just dumping guys to clear PT for rookies. We need scoring from our frontline guys and that isn’t TT’s forte.

A good move would be to pick up Kelly Olynyk.....fills a need we have..he can shoot and defend

Do your own homework rookie....you can google search it yourself...and for the record...offer you opinion and stay in your lane about mine ..it was written about when Kawhi was first on the block after the draft
So you say Pop said something about the Blazers, I ask for the quote, and I get this....

Ok, nevermind.

He’s not, he just makes shit up and then gets offended when someone calls him out on it.
And I didn't even call him out, I just asked for the quote he was referencing... haha.

broken record.…..do us a favor....just don't engage me in the forum period...I've asked you before..and stop talking about me.....talk about basketball...you keep repeating things that won't end well for some reason....I'm seriously just not interested....follow your own nevermind bones and move on...I had a heart attack last sunday and you didn't even bother to post in my thread....speaks volumes....I know one thing...life is really short and respect takes practice....so far..you've shown me little...some of you guys are really sucking the fun out of this place and it's not adding anything to the forum...as soon as you're off the staff title because you play hoops...I'll just ignore you and we'll be done...after my heart attack I took everyone off ignore and now I'm finding that is a big mistake....have a good life kid...stay out of mine please

Lets keep it civil.

I don't care who started it, who said what and what was worse.

Just keep it civil.
at some point you guys should follow the insult the post not the poster rule....it gets really out of hand here....same guys everytime….ruining the forum in my view...I've gotten multiple pms about this from quality posters who're just as fed up...I'm past giving a shit

Nor is scoring ET's forte, or Zach Collins. I mean, would you rather share minutes with Curry and Baldwin playing as much as they can behind CJ and Dame and a little Trent and a little less Stauskas and the occasional Simons, while the front court is Nurk and Zach Collins, Chief and Moe and TT....OR watch ET play a lot at the expense of Baldwin and Curry AND watch freaking Swanigan and Meyers?!! Because that's what we have now. Be honest; you can't want that.

Okay.

Does he go on the OT forum? I don't follow OT very closely. I wouldn't hold that against him without knowing.
yes he does Nate....but it doesn't matter...stirring shit and making things personal is not why I post here.

I was literally just asked for a quote you were referencing. I didn't even read your thread dude. I'm sorry that happened.

How is asking for the quote you were referencing stirring shit or making things personal?

I know we don't agree about much, but you are absolutely right about life being too short. When participating here becomes hard work rather than fun - something has gone off the rails. Take care of your health and do what you need to do to reduce the stress.

What I want is an upgrade at PF or SF. I want a player at one of those spots who can get his own shot and take pressure off the guards. I want a balanced starting unit that nobody dares to run double teams with a big against Dame and CJ because that would only result in having Nurk, Zach or the new guy killing you with an open shot. I most decidedly do not want an offense based on multiple guard chuckers who can shoot you out of a game as easily as they can win one. I want the Warriors, damn it!

Haha. Yeah, I'm with you. One more threat to keep teams from flooding our guards... When I clear my mind I just see Tobias Harris every time. He would help.

So do 29 other teams.

I see us as one player away. The one you describe. Butler wants out and could be it if we could keep our core.

Harkless/Aminu/picks for butler?

He makes the most sense. Problem is, LAC probably doesn't want to take on long term salary, so it's probably have to be a 3 team trade. Chicago might want to clear cap space to offer Jabari a bigger offer sheet, so maybe something like this would work?

CHI Gets: Meyers Leonard
LAC Gets: Robin Lopez, Caleb Swanigan, 2019 POR 1st
POR Gets: Tobias Harris

10 years ago when they they didn't have Curry, Thompson, or Draymond? What about them? You guys keep throwing out weird comparisons that have nothing to do with our current situation.
Give me a break. How about 7-8 years ago?

We just started building this team a few years ago when we were forced to dump our starting line-up.

This is the beginning of a dynasty?!! Gtfo
That's not what I said now was it? We did the quick risky tank thing with Roy, Aldridge and Oden.

We never had as much success as this team has had with Lillard and CJ. And we're one of the youngest teams in the league.

Do it right. Set up a good culture. Have stability. I'm liking what I'm seeing this summer. We're 1 good move from competing every year.

Steph is 30, Klay is 28, Draymond is 28.

Those three guys are part of the same window. Currently there is no third star to go with Dame and CJ's window. We can talk about longevity and having a game that ages well all we want, but right now there's a huge gap between where Dame and CJ are, and where our project players are.

That's what I'm talking about.

I like Harris better than Biggie or Meyers but that leaves the Blazers woefully thin at Center where Leonard can at least play some minutes if absolutely necessary. Who do they get for a backup Center besides Collins?

So what's the alternative? Just go lotto for the next 4 years? It took Golden State like 20 years to get out of the lottery.

We're building our future and working to compete as best we can now.

Olshey's mistakes so far have been in thinking he could sell Portland on players who had other options.

That's why 2016 was always going to turn out bad. That's why he didn't trade Aldridge. Aside from that I've been impressed with the job Olshey has done.

I think he has learned that he can't go all in on free agents.

We're one piece away from really competing. And we have good culture, and we're building our future.

Exciting times.

I dunno, 3rd string C isn't as important. There's some out there still. Jeff Withey is a guy I'd look at.

True....but Zach played more PF last year with Davis playing Center. He was also starting to play some PF with Nurkic just a bit. So I wasn't counting on much from him and Nurk seems to be best at around 28 minutes per game.

no way Chi does that IMO, Lopez is a plus asset that is expiring this yr, Meyers is a ball and chain who has two yrs left
