I guess this old guy needs his hearing checked because all I hear when Olshey talks is, “blah, blah, blah, valet parking, blah, blah, blah........
Clippers, Clippers and oh yeah...during my time with the Clippers...blah blah..this is my big complaint with Butch wax Olshey

It will be something about how he loved Skal in the draft and how they were always fans of Hood in Utah. Basically it’s all gonna be bullshit.

I don’t blame Neil, I blame PA and everyone else who let this HWY99 car salesmen plant his ass and be rewarded year after year for the exact same failures. Most owners would have fired a gm who busted on extensions/signings of 4 guys in one offseason.

ET
Moe
Nards
Crabbe

Name one gm who busted harder ever?
Billy King. Lifetime achievement award.

"Look, I'm not worried about what the fans are saying. I have a job to do. Regardless, of what the fans think, it's harder than it looks. This isn't a video game, we can't just go out and get whoever we want. Fans are going to always be upset about something. It is hard to be patient. It's a process. In terms of going out and looking for trades, we were as aggressive as a team can be. There was a lot of interest in our players, we had a list of targets, as to who we wanted to bring in. Rodney and Skal were both on that list. We are talking about two young and versatile players. We upgraded the roster, did we get a big name, no, but it's not because we didn't try. The deal just wasn't there, in terms of what was being asked. It was a high tide deadline, where the counteroffers were just too precipitous. We weren't interested in having a fire sale, or giving up players for under market value. But, listen, we got the guys we wanted. Rodney is going to be a great help on the wing. Skal is a talented young big, he reminds me a lot of Zach. I think we have a group that can make a run in the playoffs. We still have our first and an open roster spot. We will be aggressive on the buyout market. We will definately use that avenue. We will look for a guy that can come in and help us down the stretch. We are always looking to upgrade the team. It just has to be the right move for us. It has to make sense."
You always do the best, Chris.

For a second, I thought you quoted the press conference and I was going to make a snarky remark. Well, well done.

Where’s Diva at? I’d rather read pages more about Blake’s ballsack than one more sentence about Neil’s slick conservative bullshit.

Exactly. About 5 or 6 very vocal posters on S2 think they speak for the entire fan base. This fan base does not seem pissed at Neil Olshey at all to me either.

My best guess is it's a demographic difference. I see a lot of engaged and enthusiastic fans under the age of 30 attending games, twittering, fan posting, hosting post game shows, and overall they seem positive about the team. We legitimately challenge for the division every year, have a bona fide superstar, fan life if pretty good and no cause to rail against the GM. The older fan base, I think, has a substantial portion that is apathetic about the team and no longer voicing their opinions. If the Blazers are a form of entertainment, they're getting the same script year after year, decade after decade that's drained their attention span. I'm basing this from the behavior of my friends who are fans, absent long time posters on this board, dinosaur members from the media who aren't as active with the Blazers as they once were. Just my speculation, but I imagine there's a substantial silent contingent of the older fanbase that would be pissed at Olshey if they were still capable of being emotionally stirred by the Blazers anymore.

Bingo. You hit the nail right on the head. A 40+ year drought and an annual boatload of excuses has gotten exceedingly old. At my age I have better things to get cranked up about instead of waiting for lightning to strike again. And that’s the only way a small market team can win in a league that insists on stacking the deck in favor of the big markets. When players can afford to pass up major bucks in order to win a championship on an already stacked team, then there’s no reason to even try and compete. All that said, it still doesn’t detract from the fact that Olshey is a classic underachiever.

Hell of a quarter....we're deep and we have guys who can fill the bucket up

Close out better Dame.... god dang it..

Now I know why you're vacationing in Cleveland.....CAVS FAN!!

Actually, (ironically enough) BG’s wife is putting on a wine tasting for Channing Frye and 5 of his teammates (assuming they haven’t been traded in the past few days) after their last game. So yeah, for one night I’ll be an assistant sommelier and Cavs fan (they’re playing Charlotte).

I knew it! And you missed the one minute Baldwin played for Cleveland!

Actually, it’s the night before the last home game.

Get your facts straight.

Dr. Tim, you'd make a good shrink. The stereotype is that young people are more easily bored, but actually, old fans are more borable because we have less time to wait. I've become a passive observer. My post count is mostly from my earliest years here.

Olshey is a quality GM. I like what he's doing. He has a plan. Obviously next year the Blazers have multiple expirings to offer. Patience, like the franchise showed with Layman, will pay off for this team soon regarding the ability to add, IMO, those final pieces to the puzzle. Like when the Blazers were able to add Buck. That move spurred the team toward greatness. Olshey is no fool. He will use those contracts next year. Patience! But enjoy the ride.

Olshey, you're missing your Saturday night taekwondo class.

Look, I tried to make a big trade, but I couldn’t do it. I could say it takes two to tango, but I don’t even know how to tango. In fact, I’m a lousy dancer and a lousy GM, and I don’t know how I got this job.

Yep...The reason Paul promoted and extended him is because he is working the plan, especially through the draft.
