Olsheys MASTER Plan (1 Viewer)

I have a feeling that we are going to be one of those under-talented, try hard team filled with blue collar players that loses to big market teams.... oops, basically the early eighties all over again.

I would remove the keys from Mr. Olshey. I don't believe he knows what he is doing...,

I just wouldn't allow him to do anymore with this franchise.

Wow, I'm not big on Aminu but I'm a huge Olshey fan. The guy is very good at his job. It's just a very tough job being the GM of a small market like Portland.

This signing was dumb as hell. Sure Aminu can defend but the dude can't shoot to save his life. This was Olshey big plan? Overpaying a one dimensional bench player? I'm not a pessimistic fan and I've told some of you wait and see, but now we should say bye to Aldridge, because this isn't what's gonna bring him back. We're settling for Gerald Henderson and Aminu starting on the wings, and these guys are both downgrades that don't shoot well. Aldridge woo have no space to work and the lane will be insanely clogged for Dame. I just lost all my trust in Neil... it's over.
I don't recommend slitting your wrists, but I here LA is nice this time of year.

It isn't a job, it's a f-ing prison sentence. Wouldn't be surprised if he quits.

Christ on a crutch, who gives a shit if he's one dimensional, Tony Allen is even more one dimensional, does that hurt his team?

What has he done that makes you feel this way?

Just curious.

Also, hypothetically.... can we sign LMA and Monroe, be at the cap, and then trade for hibbert? (kaman + henderson)

Yes, but don't you think that would be overkill? $50M invested in LA, Monroe, and Hibbert, and no playing time for Leonard, Plumlee, and Vonleh? And no cap space to add to our paper-thin backcourt?

I was just thinking out loud. We can get LMA + Hibbert + another max

Why do you guys love Aminu? He can defend but he can't do anything offensively! It'll hamper our spacing making things harder for Dame and LA. I know I'm overreacting bit it makes no sense to me. Someone please explain how this is a good deal

Well, we got about 10x more depth than before if we continue to sign players, since, you know, FA isn't over. Olshey, I assume, knew he had Aminu in the bag when he traded Batum and RHJ (who could've been an even worse one sided defensive player for us. At least Aminu lit up the playoffs.) So essentially we turned Batum + RHJ into Plumlee, Henderson, Vonleh and Aminu. I'd say that's a win. And we still have shit to take care of.

Aminu is immediately our best defender.

He showed in the playoffs he isn't that inept offensively.

He is young, gritty, 6'9.

Say we happen to re-sign Matthews and LMA if that's the path we cgoose

Dame / Scrub
Wes / McCollum
Aminu / Henderson
LMA / Vonleh
Plumlee / Leonard

I'd say that's not half bad. Still want Cory Joseph as backup PG.

Alright. I just think we need another reliable scorer that can create their own shot. We need a Gerald Green or Rudy Gay type of guy, hopefully they can defend too.

yes... teams could play him 5on4

Have fun doing that with aminu, since he is a very good rebounder and cutter at 6'9. Can't just ignore him because he WILL rebound the ball.

Furthermore, his offensive game is way more advanced than Tony allen. And you brought up Trevor in the playoffs..check Aminu in the playoffs.

He is more than capable and even earned himself a starting nod in the playoffs and frustrated the hell out of James Harden.

Also, 7.5 mill is about what a few of us thought his range would be and honestly over the next four years..that's a bargain. Could've been paying Batum 64+ million over that same time span if we got him back.

If that were to happen, I say Wes will get minutes at SF (along with Aminu) Personally I like that diverse combo. Then you have Henderson/CJ at SG.

This I agree with. Although I think henderson is a pretty good slasher. We definitely do need another ball handler/scorer..

I'd be wary of playing Wes over 30 minutes a game with him rushing back from his achilles would be my only concern.

I think Wes is gone. I think Rolo is gone. I think there's a good chance that LA is gone.

I guess you guys have watched him more then me. I guess I'm warming up to this move now that I've listened to what you guys have to say. That's part of the reason I vented here, I needed some voices of reason to calm me down haha

Is not like I don't like him as a player, I just don't like the price and how it knocks is out of the Monroe race. I think we could've had him for less. My initial reaction was bad and I posted here too soon.
I don't think it knocks us out if Olshey has already decided that Matthews and Lopez are going to be too expensive (or not good value) to re-sign.

This could still be a bad off season, just don't think this is the worst move that could be made. Elite defender that was breaking out in the playoffs? Yea, I'll take it. Not to mention we REALLY needed a SF and Demarre Caroll is older..about the same on defense..better offensively but Demarre wasn't always a shooter, either.

Also, we still haven't seen Demarre's contract yet.

I like the upgrade in athleticism with Henderson and Aminu, especially on defense.

But can we trust Stotts to get the most out of these guys?

He might not be the right guy for these kind of players. He's always strikes me as the coach that needs a certain kind of player for his system instead of running a system that feeds off the strength of his players.

If we don't sign anyone else including Aldridge, we'd totally be a playoff team in the east. Will have to spend more to be a playoff team in the west.
