In re-reading my responses to this thread I came across as dismissive to those who enjoy WWE. I only meant that I lost interest in pro wrestling when I found out it was fake; it stopped being a sport for me. It's just not my bag; I didn't mean to insult others who enjoy the spectacle.

Entertainment. It is a TV show. It's a TV show with pretty amazing live stunts every week.

i actually used to watch it back in the WWF days and it was really enjoyable. then again i was a kid and had very little other options....
the personalities are definite a lot different - it used to be more 'fun' now its more 'dramatic'
i doubt it'll reach the prestige it had in the past, but it'll keep going im sure.

I grew up watching the WWE when it was still the WWF and the stars were all true legends: Rock, Stone Cold, HHH, Kurt Angle, Benoit, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Brock Lesnar, and the two best divas ever in Trish Stratus and Lita. Well...The Rock is back (at least for awhile), and it sounds like HHH and Undertaker are on their way back from injury very soon as well. Consider my interest in the WWE officially renewed.

I grew up when the WWF was Hogan, Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy, The Iron Shiek, Big John Studd, Superfly Snooka, The Macho Man...you know, the era when matches actually finished without disqualifications or outside interference. I know the "Stone Cold" era is considered the "golden age", but I feel like it was only appealing to the LCD by that point.

Typing this, I feel like the old codger yearning for the days of Russell v. Wilt.

I go back a bit further. British Bulldogs, Sweet Brown Sugar, Superfly Snooka, Andre the Giant, Jesse the Body, etc. I stopped watching right around when "Hulkamania" was starting to explode, and turned my attention to the NFL, MLB, and NBA. Not that I dislike wrestling at all, or judge anybody who watches it. It obviously still has a huge audience.

Bret Hart, Razor Ramon/Scott Hall, Diesel/Kevin Nash, Hogan, Piper, Hart Foundation, Legion of Doom/Roadwarriors, even John Tenta Earthquake were big names for me as a kid. I always thought it was lame back when they pretended it was real. I never really watched back in the Hulkamania era.

I started with WCW, back during the nWo angle, and then mainly WWF from like 98-02. Once Austin and the Rock left, I lost interest and followed from a distance. The last couple years I've barely followed at all. Now that the Rock is back, I will definitely try to watch again.

this is true of me as well.. honestly we didnt get cable until I was in High School so The HUlkamania time period while I remember it fondly, I was months behind as I watched PPV's on VHS from our local video store. It wasnt until NWO/Goldberg that I would go to my cousins each week and watch it religiously.
