On a scale of 1 to 10, how pissed will you be when KP doesn't make a trade?

I like the excitement a deal can bring, but I'll take at as a given that there just wasn't a great deal to be made at the deadline if nothing happens.

If nothing happens draft night or over the summer in terms of deal making then I would be not only shocked, but extremely disappointed ... but that ain't gonna happen; this is KP we're talking about!

The way I read the situation, this time frame could be our last chance in the next 5-6 years to acquire an impact player (without giving up an impact player), so I would be extremely disappointed if we didn't trade (9).

but do we ever get the real inside scoop of what goes on in trade discussions? Most of the rumors we hear come from the player's agent who is trying to generate interest for their guy. I don't trust any of the specific rumors and the only thing I can really hang my hat on is the actual trades that go through. And it's hard for me to be down on KP for inaction when every time he has acted I've been in full agreement.

I'm sure he knows that a consolidating trade would serve the club well. He's spoken to the possibility of adding a significant piece to the core guys plenty of times. But while he speaks of the value of Raef's contract I've also heard him point to the 2009 offseason and the potential of real capspace. He's in a great position to take advantage if the right team starts having a fire sale, and part of that is that he doesn't have to make a move.

I'd go for about a 9. I think we can get a better deal now than we can in the offseason- when we'd have to waive Blake and Outlaw in order to make an offer over 12 million. Raef's contract seems to be a pretty hot commodity also.

I think Pritchard should shoot for one of the stud small forwards- i.e. Prince, Wallace, etc- and I think he can do it without giving up our big three, Pryzbilla and Bayless. I don't care too much if he trades away Sergio, Webster, Outlaw, etc and a draft pick if we get a strong defender at the 3 spot.

In the offseason, someone like Bibby is the best that we can hope to get, but I'd much rather have Prince or Wallace now to help us with the playoff race and because they will have a longer term impact than Bibby/Andre Miller would.

So, I'll be disappointed to almost the level of Mixum-itis if a trade doesn't go down.

Let's add another ingredient before we bake this cake.
