On Carmelo Anthony's final act in New York, and why the Blazers should be his next team

This thread is a total soccer mom pta meeting. All this Melo hate for his defense is just more evidence of it. This fan base has an inability to see beyond its own roster. Good god if you get Melo and the knicks to agree to a deal to send him here for:

1 of our bad contracts: AC/ET
1 of our good contracts: Hark/Aminu/davis
2 picks: 2017 Mem 2017 Cavs 2018 ours

you do it and ask questions about defense later. I mean its like you guys dont even want us to be good or something. Calling Melo a chucker is warranted but I would suggest looking at the complexion of our own roster and ask yourself why you dont have a problem with dame and cj throwing up garbage on a nightly basis and playing hero ball but you do with melo. The guy is an allstar nearing the end of his career who can still play, I really dont see what the issue is. He is one of the most polished offensive players in the NBA still. If that deal comes to NO desk and he passes because he thinks AC + Hark are more valuable he deserves to be unemployed.

Just imagine for a second a closing lineup of

Dame
CJ
Melo
Aminu or Hark or Vonleh
Nurkic

nobody wants to try and stop that with 2 minutes to go so many options in the pnr couldnt double anyone.... I know this deal will never happen but it's for melo to say no to, everyone else should be on board.
I think Melo would prefer a city that he measures rather than a team that could need him. Syracuse is direct link to NYC

Yeah no shit, he isnt choosing to come to portland. If he waived his no trade clause and you dont have to give up dame/cj/nurk you do it for whatever it costs. Carmelo Anthony is still a top 20ish player in the NBA. We need him and he needs us dont let any of these grouchy old farts tell you any different.

Personally, if I was the GM we could equate two capable players for the equal sum of his salary and have the bonus of a working player if the other is injured.

not that I necessarily want Melo but IMO he'll be fairly cheap in terms of assets but nut salary, I believe he's owed 26.2 mil next yr and has a player option after that for 28 mil. I'm guessing Crabbe or Turner, perhaps Harkless and our pick or the Mem pick could easily get it done. Keep in mind he's 32 and on the decline. Might be able to get Oquinn thrown in for a cheap 4 mil per back up PF/C

Cant play two players at the same position at the same time. Carmelo is atleast 2.5x better than anyone on our roster not named dame/cj/nurk and to my memory he is not injured so idk what your point is really

Think about how well Vince Carter is still playing at his age. Carmelo was a better player when he was in his prime his decline will be slow he can still play at a starter level for at least the next 5 years

I think Phil/Knicks have misused Melo but he's contributed with being overweight, so the situation there is bad and other teams know it so IMO Knicks pretty much want to just get rid of the guy so if they can get a decent pick and a youngish player they's do it, and Turner would actually fit the triangle well. Again I do not think he'd come here but I do think we easily have the type of assets to get it done

Carmelo Anthony, Gentleman's Club Dancer Allegedly Pregnant Together

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is alleged to have impregnated a woman who works at a New York City gentleman's club.

According to TMZ Sports, the woman said she is six-and-a-half months pregnant with Melo's child, and she reportedly expects Melo to contribute financially.

TMZ reported Monday that Anthony and his wife of seven years, La La Vazquez, are amicably separated. They have a 10-year-old son together named Kiyan.

Per TMZ Sports, Anthony allegedly fathering a child with another woman contributed to the split, and there is "virtually zero chance" of reconciliation.

The news comes in the midst of a rocky time for Melo professionally as well, after Knicks president Phil Jackson said Friday that Anthony "would be better off somewhere else," according to ESPN.com's Ian Begley.

Good thing that Portland has lots of strippers 'Melo can knock up!

OK, I'd be willing to absorb Melo and his albatross contract, but only if the Knicks send us Porzingas as compensation.

She'll be retiring soon....

If this isnt the pot calling the kettle black i dont know what is

As a fan base we are prevented from denigrating ANY other teams contracts. You should know this... If you want to talk about albatross contracts lets talk about Allen Crabbe or better yet Meyers making 11m per to have a NEGATIVE PER (I honestly didnt know that was possible). Melo on his bad days at least plays basketball at a nba starter level regardless. We cannot say the same for any player on our roster not named dame or cj.

Clippers are likely option A but I wouldn't be surprised to see CP3 bounce this summer if the Jazz or Warriors/we bounce them early, again. That would change the NBA landscape majorly.

The other team is Boston, I could see them throwing Brown/Smart/Brooklyn pick at New York for Melo, it would be the biggest win now move.
I'm sorry, I know someone else already responded to this; but Danny Ainge is not stupid, he would not give up even one of Brown, Smart or Brooklyn pick for Melo. Phil Jackson is desperate to get rid of Melo. The only trade I would consider would be Leonard and Ezeli (I guess after exercising his 2nd year) and Ed Davis for Melo and Quinn. I'd throw in one of our lower picks. That's all. That's it.

Vince Carter plays for 4.6 million dollars.

How the fuck do we lose 27 wins with that trade? haha I think you broke the trade machine

We got up 10, they go down 27. But that trade would break the NY sports media. :D

Careful. Our goal can't be to become the Knicks!!

If we were to get Porzingis, O'Quinn and 2 First Round picks from the Knicks, for taking 3 of our most bloated salaries, I'd be willing to take on Melo to do that. That trade was made in jest though just for clarification.

He could get comps at clubs in LA, you know. For talent, we could not afford him unless Phil Jackson likes Turner, Aminu and Harkless.
