Zombie One simple question for Lillard and Aldridge

WE CLEAR CAP ROOM AND WE CAN GAURANTEE AN ALL STAR PLAYER COMING HERE BECAUSE ALDRIDGE AND LILLARD WERE TOLD DURING SMALL TALK WITH BUDDIES THAT SOME TOP FLIGHT FREE AGENTS WANT TO PLAY WITH THEM?????

GET.

REAL.

THAT IS A DIFFERENT POINT. YOU SAID WE HAVE NO MONEY TO OFFER. I AGREE FREE AGENTS DON'T WANT TO COME TO PORTLAND . . . EXCEPT IF YOU PAY KAMAN TWICE AS MUCH AS HE GOT PAID BEFORE.

WHY ARE WE YELLING.

Those moves can still be made while using the MLE and BAE to fill holes. Whether we trade for someone like Trevor Ariza does not change the fact that we needed a backup point guard and a veteran big man. We used the MLE to sign the best available players at that rate.

Time will tell

i don't know Rolo, Nic . .. depends on who is available. Point is I don't think teams stop analysis at all we have is the MLE.

As I've said thousand times, I'm not going to pretend to know what moves can be done in the NBA, but I feel comfortable enough making judgements on moves made without giving alternatives. You want alternatives, that fine. I don't judge others opinions because they won't give alternatives

Okay Rolo and nic can give you a near max player... Let's say Melo for example. Okay melo is a SF so batums position is covered. We are now without a center and have Only what we had last summer. Cuz remember trading them out would put us under cap, therefor no MLE.

So who we getting next for 2.5 mil and vet min?

Shoulda just gave that money to tbe current players as a bonus. Wait, are you saying that using these exceptions is better than not using them because we get players who can actually play and or could be used as assets down the road? That sounds fishy to me, I still think we should have gotten Gortat for the MLE. OR LeBron because he must have told Damian he wanted to play with him.

Actually he got 3,183,000 last year with the Lakers. 8 million the year before with the Mavericks.

"If they're so bad"??? Give me a break. Are Blake and Kaman the guys you wanted to add to the roster this summer? Of course not. They weren't on any of our radars, and for good reason.

That reason being not understanding that there's a salary cap and also that you can't make up trades that you'd like?

Pretty sure they were "on the radar" of people who knew that the Blazers were working with an MLE and BAE.

Bro, we'd have Kaman to take over for Rolo..... oh wait.

I think Chandler Parsons is an amazing player, and would have been a great addition. I also think Gortat is a helluva lot better than Kaman. And Gordon Hayward is a clear upgrade over Blake. Would they have come to Portland? I don't know. Are they worth the money? I don't know that, either, but I know that three NBA teams thought they were. Sometimes you have to overspend to get good talent.

It doesn't matter what you evaluate their worth to be; the Blazers didn't have the cap space to go after them. I know you believe you can magic up cap space at whim, but that's not how it works. You have to line things up and make sacrifices to create cap windows. The Blazers could do that next off-season. There was no way to do it this off-season in any halfway realistic universe.

IF they are going to seriously target Kaman, I have no problem giving him the full MLE (especially for that contract) . . . but we are drastically increasing his salary after a not so great year.

We aren't drastically increasing anything. His second year isn't guaranteed.

Next season has only like a 1.8 mil guarantee.

1.6 million is "drastically" increasing his salary?

Factoring in that the Blazers are going to buy him out, then 5.8 million for one yr.

If Kaman can stay healthy, and that's a big if, I think they will keep him. Only way they buy him out is if he's playing a 50 game season.

I actually think Kaman will surprise you bro. Don't be discouraged. Trust Olshey... Many didn't trust the Rolo move last summer and that became a home run.

I don't remember them saying that the all stars who wanted to play with them were free agents this year. (Unlike Bosh and James) Kind of a big difference since the teams they are on may not want them to leave for nothing in return....

I know what the problem is, Olshey and Obama both begin with O.

Never put anyone in charge whose last name starts with O.

Ugh . . . I hate Kaman, makes me get into it with everyone on this board, including mags who is about the easiest going guy on this board.

Forget Kaman, we are stuck with him. Shooter's point is the players the Blazers have so far picked up this summer (and I'm guessing they re done) is a bit of a disappointment. Especially the way LA and Lillard were taking and this team is coming off their best season in 14 years.

I hope the Blazers build on last year, because if they can't attract anyone after last season, they aren't going to attract shit if the Blazers crash and fall this season.

I think our push will be next summer. I think the moves we make this summer will fill our voids. I still think we will be a top 4 western conference contender this season.

And btw, we aren't getting into it bro. Just a debate...

So who are the free agents next summer?
