Ha! That is funny. Pretty tame though. The other day, river mentioned fishing poles on Navy ships. Well we had a few hanging in the Mess deck.

I remember we stopped for a couple days at some island in the south eastern Pacific, and Dang they had beer there too! San Miguel I think.
Anyway a few of my gang and I got some meat the cooks would lets us have for Bait. We got the poles and then some beer and we were off for a night of fishing off the beach. Big fire going, plenty of beer, baited hook cast out, we were fishing!

Caught a few little ones and then something big took the bait. Geez it must have been 15 minutes or so and we still had not got the dang fish in.
To this day, I still remember handing off the pole to another guy so I could get a beer, to refresh you know. Just got the beer open and realized the guys were leaving in a rush. Then I saw the thing, fire light shining it's eyes as it came in a rush. Shit I had to really run, that damn thing was huge and fast!
A saltwater Croc maybe 25', could be more. We were pretty lucky I think, that croc didn't catch dinner that night.
We finished the beer though, but no more fishing.

My sister in law pays 500 a month for herself, and her 3 year old girl. My brother just goes without insurance because it would cost them like another 400 a month to insure him.

My other sister in law, they were paying 1,200 a month for family healthcare before they got divorced.

Maybe this is another one of those times, where were not seeing our white privilege?

Good for you. Mine cost me $750 a month. That was for a crappy high deductible plan. For my wife and me, the premiums were more than our house payment. I couldn’t afford anything approaching a gold plan because Of my age. Yeah, I got a “free” physical last year (although the labs cost me over $100), but that free colonoscopy? Nope. I got denied coverage because I had 1 polyp at my last one. It seems they’re only free if you don’t need them. That’s going to be around a $3,000 hit. Thank goodness I turned 65 this year and got good coverage through Medicare.

If you’re younger and not making much money, ACA is a sweet deal because other people are paying for you. If your older and making just a bit too much to be subsidized, you get screwed.

Obamacare imposed a hefty tax on covering retired people like my wife and I. But only if the company continued to provide the healthcare.
At the same time in the Obama care bill, they made it completely legal for the company to cease providing the healthcare coverage.
This then left us (millions of retired people and there dependents) with no legal remedy for losing our retirement benefits earned through years of work.

The company was done a great service, given this opportunity to legally escape from the obligation.
I just met with a group of people, retired from several companies, that took advantage of the ObamaCare incentive to terminate their coverage.
It appears very grim, we have no recourse. The Congress made it legal, tough shit. Thanks Obama!

I asked my representatives if they actually thought the tax would provide revenue to cover you guys that taut this fiasco. But they refused to answer, to a man
they said it was Constitutional! All three had the same bloody odd answer.

Well we know it was not intended to raise revenue, it was intended as a reward to the insurance companies, another huge pool of people now needing to purchase their insurance instead of us getting it as compensation for services rendered. Mostly from former employers that are self insured.
