If you wait for any reactions to this news from republicans condemning this unconstitutional strategy, you'll be waiting a damn long time. And this is why the R's are in such a rush to get another judge on the SC...they are hoping that judge will give them the SC votes to essentially kill our democracy. Biden could win 400 electoral votes and the general election by 60% to 40% and trump and the R's will still try to ignore the results.

The scary thing is I can see that happening. And for some reason a lot of republicans are ok with it. If the Dems did this how would the republicans react?

If Trump does this, he is committing treason and there will be chaos at levels we have never seen. He might not give the people much choice.

The Declaration of Independence cites the duty of the people should something like this happen...

'whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. '

'But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.'

It also lists the many "injuries" and "usurpations" of King George of England that was the cause for our new nation. Do some of these sound familiar?

To be clear. I am not advocating the overthrowing of our government. I am saying Trump might create a situation, where ultimately the majority may elect to do that.

Hispanics thinking that they're going to get deported. Throw in the virus and the economic chaos that it's caused, forest fires and hurricanes, global warming, and on and on. Considering the sovereign debt crisis around the world, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. The next 10+/- years are going to be chaos.

A part of me wants Biden to reinforce this as his campaign message. That he would not let the crimes Trump committed while in office be ignored.
I see two realities ahead:

1. a continuation of this one with more corruption and cronyism and nepotism and the ugly side of capitalism; more division, more hate, uprisings and chaos; more blame and unaccountability and I think you recognize where I'm going with this

and...

2. a time of healing and unity, like neighbors cleaning up together after a storm; a time where the animosity sort of gets behind a social shield again, where it is bad to just go with your impulses and prejudices and say whatever pops into your head, where we're in this together...

My point as to your point is that there goddamn better be a time when Trump pays for his crimes. But what I worry about is just a different version of what we have now: "Lock her up!" ad infinitum. As I see it, what needs to happen is New York needs to get him for the fraud they are currently investigating and Biden needs to stay mum, THEN look into the other things. Because it has to be 100% clear and unbiased, otherwise the cult members stay cult members...
