Yes, the tools/mechanics would have to change greatly. Novosad for example was way ahead of Smith coming to Oregon out of HS, and unless Moore goes pro this year (he might), he's unlikely to take a meaningful snap as well. Look at the caliber of player to get meaningful snaps at Oregon over Lannings tenure. Being good isn't even close to enough to get the starting job.
next step is transfer portal
All this love, and I still can't help but feel that if Penn St had just kept the ball on the ground, that's an L.
Or he wants an extra year to get paid by Oregon. I have read the same theories as you have on 247, but it is very possible he wants to be in Eugene for all 3 years that his brother is there. Or at least I hope that is the case.
I don't think his release is quick, at all. I don't have the data to back it up, so maybe I'm wrong. I think he has an arm, but doesn't throw the greatest ball. And I'm not saying he's awful or going to be awful. He's QB5 on this roster, Novosad never was that.Akili Smith looked better in his first spring game than Novosad did as a freshman. What tools is Akili Smith missing? He has better size than anybody on the roster. Has a quick release and can move his feet. His dad taught him how to play QB. Why don't you think he has mechanics or tools?

I'm not sure what this actually means
WE'RE GETTING TWO GIANT RUBBER DUCKS!

I'm just saying, PSU's final drive of regulation was all running, as was their OT TD. UO no longer had the energy to handle their ground game. Going to the air in the 2nd OT was just dumb.If they had kept the ball on the ground, I don't think there would have been enough time for those 2 4th qrt TDs.

Actually if you watch again Penn State right Tackle I believe had cramps or some injury on the last drive in regulation. The OT drive had a key pass play. I don’t think it was out of the question to mix it up a bit. Ducks were waiting for run. That pick was just in reach. If that ball was an inch higher it’s a big completion.I'm just saying, PSU's final drive of regulation was all running, as was their OT TD. UO no longer had the energy to handle their ground game. looks like Portland won't be the only Oregon team riding the wave of the Chinese hype machine:
