Lanning has shown what the power of the Duck brand can do. Altman is a very good coach but it's time to see what someone else can do with the marketing juggernaut that Oregon has become. I look at Altman as Duck basketball's version of Bellotti. He's done a great job of guiding the program to a place where others can take it to a higher level.

The investment between football and basketball isn't even remotely comparable. The odds are much greater the next basketball coach at Oregon will take the program back a step vs up another one.

Duh. Obviously, it doesn't take as much $$$$$$$ to be top-tier competitive in basketball compared to football.

See Connecticut and Gonzaga for examples.

Oregon's brand has never been better, the flash from football and track shines on the entire athletic department. Add the Nike connection to that...

Our final 4 appearance was 8 years ago.

Correct. All back to my original point that comparing football to basketball is nearly meaningless as they are supported and prioritized at a much different level.

I'd say overall, the athletic department has taken a half step back since NIL, conference realignment, etc. Track, WBB, MBB, and softball were probably in better shape 5 years ago. Oregon just lost their elite vball coach to Kansas St.

Oregon is all-in on football. A change in basketball could be very risky.

Uh sir, the Oregon baseball team won a game 35-1 this weekend.

Why do they have to be so mean to my PSU Vikings!?!?!

Just kidding..... PSU doesn't have a baseball team. But if they did......

bad news rumbling... it's being rumored that someone on the team was popped for a DUI recently. If so we should find out when things get filed in the public record in the next week or so

good speculations... the guys who analyze HS talent think that the next few classes will feature the deepest and most talented wave of prospects from the West Coast in a long time which is partially why we see both Oregon and USC up at the top of the early class rankings for 2026.

Nate Bittle will be an interesting test. I seriously doubt, unless he has a remarkable March, he's 1st round material in the draft. Looks to be 2nd round. Doubt he goes undrafted. He's a decent rebounder, decent shooter, can occasionally hit a college 3. He has become a solid rim protector this season

still, if you assume high 2nd round, he can get a 3-year guaranteed deal of 5-7M; maybe 2M the first year

so the question is can Bittle get enough of an NIL deal to convince him to come back next season? He might be able to improve his draft status for 2026. And for the Ducks, getting him back would be huge. He has a pretty substantial impact

I don't think he'll be drafted. I don't think he is as good as Dante N'Faly who went undrafted last year. He does a lot of good stuff but I don't think he is smooth enough or quick enough for the NBA.

I'd think he's got a better chance to be on another NCAA team next year than an NBA team. And that would be telling about Oregon's NIL.

So did we ever find out about the DUI? Or was the bad news about the ex-analyst I have never heard of

5* QB Jared Curtis was in Eugene with his parents last weekend and is scheduled to visit Georgia next... speculation is he'll be deciding between the two shortly. Next weekend the Ducks will be hosting arguably the top LB prospect in the country Tyler Atkinson of Georgia.

he's from Tennessee. The Ducks have lost a ton of recruiting battles because of distance + mothers (and girlfriends)

even if he does commit, with 9 months between now and NLI day, any commitment is soft, especially in the NIL age

Are you saying an Oregon sports franchise has to overpay for free agents? Shock!
